I've got it on charge as we speak so hoping I can trigger it to update after that.

I was going to go down the Evolve remap route and it looks like this will lock my DME if it's not already locked but decided I might go for a piggyback option instead.

Ok so I finally got the car to update to 07/2020.54 by charging the battery all day, my 10 minutes trips just weren't enough.

I understand as above there is a November update.

The car says there is no more updates :-(

Mine is a March 2020 G21 M340i, anyone else got the November update on a G21 M340?

I'm wondering whether to try and get a dealer to force it to update if the OTA update is not going to appear!

November update comes with new cars, or with one's updated by the dealer

OTA for November won't come until Feb/March. Usually about 4 months behind, sometimes even longer. The OTA isn't the best

That's not true. It's the patch level, or revision number. The previous one was 540, then 536 before that

Hi, your experience matches mine, except I’m in a G05 X5 - downloaded update, transferred to car, stupid notification. Drove 200 miles. Drove some more. Nothing. Succumbed and bought a CTEK charger (nice bit of kit but seriously, this is necessary?!). Fully charged, the CTEK didn’t highlight any issues with the battery holding charge. I was dead confident yesterday and...nothing.

Took it for a 30 mile drive again today out of desperation more than anything. Did loads of coasting for battery regeneration. Got home. Nothing. FFS, I’m seriously unimpressed. Have driven hundreds of miles since the thing originally installed and hundreds more after it inexplicably disappeared.

tl/dr - did you ever get this sorted out?!

Hi. Nope, still stuck with the same message. I’ve pretty much given up on it. It’s used every day (plus charging the battery). It goes in for a service in a few weeks so I’ll insist it’s done then

Glad its sorted. Does seem pretty ridiculous that after spending 40k+ on a motor, you also need to buy a battery charger to keep the thing on the road and up to date. Seems CTEK are doing a roaring trade from G2x owners.

Granted most driving less miles at the moment, but that doesnt seem to have been your issue... and I dont hear owners of other car makes grumbling, either within friends/family or at work.

I've never owned a battery charger in my life (and I've had some pretty average cars) so a little miffed that I may have to own one now to keep this expensive bit of kit going.

A battery is a battery. Doesn't matter if it's a 40k car or a 4k car. OTA updates are a premium convenience feature, not a necessity.

Not if the car it is in has inherit issues where the battery is draining unecessarily, or its not up to the demands of the car.

Also doesnt seem to be OTA update issues alone. Lots of people complaining of "battery level low" type messages on the dash.

Well up to a point. An AGM battery is bloody expensive and BMW should specify one with adequate capacity for modern demands. So a modern gel battery with BCM is entirely different to a lead-acid job in a “4K car”. It clearly does not have sufficient capacity.

It is indeed ridiculous and I’m also a little miffed. Definitely taken the shine off, quite a bit.
