Wireless Charging Compartment

Hi All,

I’ve had my 330e Touring for just over 2 months now. On the way to work today I reached to grab my drink out of the cup holder to find the wireless charging compartment was extremely hot. I didn’t have my phone charging so not sure why it would be this warm. My heating was set to 18C.
The compartment flap was so hot to touch that I got my temperature gun out. It read 42°C.

Any ideas?

Did you have it switched to 'drink-heating mode'?

Mine got so hot on a recent long trip that my iPhone shut off? I was considering taking it in but if it seems to be a general issue I won’t bother. Annoying when I paid £350 for the option.

Do you have a case on the phone. Just interested if that affects the phone temperature.

I use on short journeys and I always leave the flap open if that makes sense
Even on short trips it can heat up
Long time charge I'd use a charging cable
But I also agree bit of a useless expense if not up to the job

Just a thin clear case, only a couple of mm thick, shouldn't think it affects that much. Doesn't make any difference with higher wattage chargers at home.

I do close the lid as I prefer the clean look but didn't really think how that would affect cooling.

Same problem on my 2021 G20. I push my phone as far back as possible on charging pad to toggle charging on/off.

A bit ridiculous for a $500 add on feature.

Also - the white compartment LIGHT drives me crazy. Has anyone figured out how to disable?

The light serves to tell you if the phone is charging or not. Not sure why you would want to disable it.

Let me clarify... The white light at the top of the compartment, not the charging indicator blue light.

If you move the cover ever so slightly forward when open and jam something in between the door and compartment you'll cancel the light.
