Hey guys, I'm legit thinking of purchasing the M Performance spoiler that you need to drill into the car for. I have never after taken off multiple factory lips, have been able to take off the factory spoiler without SOME sort of damage to the trunk.. little chips, paint coming off, adhesive residue that won't come off with polishing etc.

So....... my bright idea, and I need to figure out cost - is to source either a used or preferably new trunk from BMW, paint it Portimao Blue with as best a paint match they can. PPF it and then throw the M performance wing on it.

This way I keep the factory trunk untouched and can actually swap between the two fairly easily - any thoughts or has anyone done something similar before/ Thanks

I've never heard of anyone buying a whole new trunk for a spoiler.

Sorry, so getting adhesive off the trunk lid is harder than getting a second trunk and swapping them? I'm ocd but I'm fairly confident you can get the lip spoiler off without damaging the paint.

A heat gun and some time will do the job. Better yet just get a competent and trusted shop to do it. They do this stuff all the time.

I think it would be easier to order a new car with the spoiler installed than what you're trying to do.

The one thing about this wing is that those holes are permanent - it's what is keeping me from giving it a shot myself.

That people don’t like being passed by it. Was behind a guy on a 2 lane freeway near my home. Lots of fast sweepers. Anyway, he was going pretty slow in the left lane with an even slower car in the rt. I gave him plenty of room and patiently waited for us to move past the person to the right. When it was safe, I went around the guy in front of me as we entered one of those sweepers. I waited until I had at least 3 car lengths between us before signaling and moving back in front of him. A few seconds later, I see some movement in my rearview mirror. It’s the guy waving his hands at me and then flipping me off. LOL. I don’t know what the problem was as I passed him as passively and safely as possible. I guess he just didn’t like me going around him.

I've noticed that, too. Some people respect the car and have fun like a guy on a speed bike and I did today. But others feel the need to compete or prove a point when all I need to do is get where I'm going.

Here's something fun, and it might require the exec package or something, but if you have iDrive8 (also works with iDrive7) and need to adjust the temp, hit the microphone on the steering wheel and say "I'm hot" or "I'm cold." So nice not to take hands of the wheel.

You dont even need to hit anything. I just say "hey M....." and the magic happened...

Maybe I'm a BMW noob but CarPlay was acting up and I learned I can reset iDrive by pressing the volume button for about 30 secs, which fixed my problem.

I discovered that if you take your car for a spirited romp on winding mountain roads, your wheels get filthy.
I learned that yesterday.
Today, I discovered that the 826M wheel pretty much sucks to wash.

- You cannot change driving profile photo in the car other than those default pictures. But you can do it on BMW app and it will sync to the car the next driving.

I spend more time washing and cleaning the 826 wheels than I do actually washing the car! Can't wait to switch them up

Do you not have your phone locked? My iPhone is useless if it gets stolen. And, the guy you quoted is also wrong about remote start, it will start the car, but you still need the key to press the start button and drive off.
