Ordered APEX wheels.

Hello everyone

Just ordered apex 5rs wheels, 19x9 front and 19x10 rear. replacing stocks that have the Bridgestone 225 RFTs. They're back ordered for now so who knows when they'll come.

on the apex website, one the fitment recommendation for this setup is 255/35/19 for front and 285/30/19 for rear. if i used the calculator correctly, translates to 89.25mm sidewall for front and 85.5 for rear?
225/40/19 that i have now is 90mm sidewall.
Does that mean the tires will have different diameter? will it cause any problems with traction or speedometer?

btw, these wheels will go in Michelin pilot sport all seasons or 4s

I called Apex and spoke to a fitment specialist. Reassured me that the recommended size on their website is within the allowed 5% deviation from BMW stock tire sizes.

The 285/30/19 seems overkill for a stock m340 no? unless ill be tracking hard, pushing 500hp, its unnecessary? 265/40/19 PS4S or extremecontact sports should be sufficient?

Yes, 285 wide tire for a stock M340i is overkill for most. Even for track, at that width is probably detrimental as added weight. I would suggest 265 or 275 as that’s what most of us who track use.
PS. Great choice of wheel!

Cant imagine how much of an improvement this will be:

Saving 10lb unsprung per corner on wheel/tire combo
Going from Bridgestone RFT to Michelin or Conti summer tires
10mm wider front, 40mm wider rear tires

Better acceleration, braking, handling, and mpg? maybe even comfort?

Just received my Apex VS-5RS wheels from the group buy. I, too, spoke with a specialist from Apex via email several times about tires and they recommended the 255/35/19 with 285/30/19 tires. There is a 7mm difference between the 2 in terms of diameter (that is .28", so pretty hard to tell with the naked eye being barely over a quarter inch difference). The tires fit great and the handling is on point based on my experience. I bought PS4S to go with them. Here are some pics:

Congrats. fits and looks like OEM! my ETA for now is early August. I decided to go with PS4S (instead of continentals), 255 and 285.

Notice any significant change in driving?

How much is the saving with groupbuy anyway?

Looks immaculate! Congrats. What is your suspension setup? Front camber plates being used?

Smoother ride, much stickier than stock. The car already handled great, and now it handles better.

Free shipping and $400 off on the GB. I also grabbed preprogrammed TPS sensors and an additional set of BMW center caps. I kept my stock tires for a winter setup.

Completely stock. I'll be taking the wheels off this week because now that the new wheels are so open I cannot get past how dirty my calipers are. No camber plates, no spacers, no rubbing even on full lock.

All the above. A lighter, forged wheel will always yield an improvement on all fronts, especially shedding 10 pounds on each corner..thats a pretty substantial reduction. In terms of comfort, the Pilots do ride quite a bit more comfortable than the shitty run flats. This will be a win all-around.

Took the wheels off and gave the calipers a proper cleaning. One more pic. Very clean and the calipers jump out now. I'm happy with the wheels and the tires. Great performing and looking combo. Kudos to Apex.

Hi Everyone.

So doing some more fitment comparisons. Still waiting for wheel delivery.

If I go with 245/40 front and 275/35 rear, sidewalls will be 98mm and 96.25mm, front and back

255/35 front and 285/30 rear will give 89.2 and 85.5

stock 225/40 being 90mm

Do i want the shorter sidewalls or taller, with wider or narrower tires ?

Considering all aspects, except price

Thank you

https://support.apexraceparts.com/hc...-Fitment-Guide

I went with the Apex reference fitment:

F: 19x9 ET28 + 255/35-19, R: 19x10 ET38 + 275/35-19
