Beginning of normalization?
Used car prices have dropped rapidly over the last ~2months. Supply chains on new vehicles are (slowly) catching up. "Royalty fees" (ie the extra $7-30k dealers have been charging over MSRP - yes, I'm talking about you Audi, Mercedes, Volvo, Kia, etc) are becoming negotiable.
Is this the beginning of a more normal car market? Albeit High interest rates, inflation and economic precarity are still on the table… I can foresee a 2023 world where we customers can - once again - negotiate 7-12% off of MSRP and get cars in a reasonable timeframe. I just negotiated 7% off my 330e (minor miracle, I'm told). Please work hard to normalize lower our the door costs folx play hardball, have a backup plan and feel free to walk away… |

Yeah, auto brokers are able to go up to 10% off on some models starting this month. So, the market maybe able to go to normal levels in a few months. Also with the interest rates going up it will bring it down faster. My credit union is at 5.99%, which is crazy. It was that high back in 2008 right before the Great Recession.

I've been tracking wholesale values on used 2020-2021 M340s for the past year. In the last 45 days the wholesale has dropped $5-$7k.
Retail has yet to catch up with the same drop, but the prices are moving south fairly quickly. |

I was planning on picking up a 2020 m340 next week. Just came in a few weeks ago from a lease and they are in the process of CPO’ing it. 26k miles. $49k. Something tells me that’s way too much given the softening in this market and I should just wait it out a bit

*EDIT* Just noticed you mentioned that this is a CPO, which tacks on a few bucks. That said: if it has the feature you want, $49 is good right now. |

That's roughly 10% in one month. |

I just went through a broker and got 10% off not including a rebate on a m340i build. I also bought an X3 in transit and got almost the exact discount.

10% off MSRP seems incredible! Four BMW dealers in my state and currently one total M340 on the lot. Even with an order, I am doubtful of getting anything off sticker price at this point.

Mileage is a bit high, but that number tracks. I'm now seeing CPO'd M340s trending into the $45 range. Still elevated, but becoming more reasonable.

I paid MSRP less $1100 for my 430iX GC today. Could be worse!
On a $60k vehicle, that's pitiful. Last purchase I got 22% off and I know that's not happening these days. |
