2022 M340i WIFI dropping out often?

Recently my WiFi keeps dropping out. I lose Spotify and the ability to receive directions sent to my car from the App.

I'm in MA and usually have cell service everywhere. This just started 3ish weeks ago? Anyone else have this issue or has any suggestions?

TIA!

Anyone? This is getting annoying, as the songs will stop and I cannot get BMW App forwarded locations sometimes to the car.

This happens to me on occasion but not regularly. Sorry, can't help much.
Have you tried restarting your phone?

Yup, Phone is not seemingly the issue, but the cars built in Wi-Fi.

If I launch Spodify from the phone it works fin, but the built in spodify cuts out after a 1-3 songs.

It seems your car has a problem with network cellular connection (not WiFi). Have it checked out. (Read out any failure codes would be the first action.)

Good point its the Cell and not the WiFi.

I'm about due for an oil change, I'll see if they can take a look.

Subscribed for updates.
My android phone doesn't always want to play well. It will drop my BT audio via android auto, then it won't pick it up again. Resetting radio (20 second power press) doesn't fix it. Sometimes toggling phone wifi does.
It gets annoying, but not super regular.

If you guys are referring to WiFi connection between headunit and phone when using CarPlay or Android Auto, or any headunit WiFi dropouts, then it's related to interferences with other WiFi networks when driving around the town. And I can support you with a fix to minimize these WiFi interference for a more stable connection.

But If it's something else related to cellular then I have no clue.

OK, what's the fix? I get this occasionally and would love to know.

You can improve the signal and reduce interferences / drop out by coding the following parameters in Headunit ECU (HU_MGU) :

- WLAN_2G_TX_POWER = 20
- WLAN_5GHZ_CHANNEL = 36
- WLAN_5GHZ_CHANNEL_WIDTH = 20
- WLAN_5G_TX_POWER = 20
- WLAN_CHANNEL = 11
- WLAN_DIAGNOSE = aktiv
- WLAN_DOMAIN = us
- WLAN_WIFI_MODE = ap+go

In BimmerCode, you can find those in the expert mode of Headunit ECU, then search for "WLAN".

Test those parameters for some time, if you don't notice improvement change the following parameters to reduce transmission power :

- WLAN_2G_TX_POWER = 14 or lower but each time you decrease the power check if the signal on your phone is still strong enough
- WLAN_5G_TX_POWER = 14 or lower with same checks as above

I hope it helps and please let me know the outcome.

I have applied those changes but channel 14 didn't work I had to make it 11. I also changed the 5ghz channel. It's working now, will have to test and see if I notice an improvement.

Let us know if it ends up working better!

Today I drove past an area my wifi always drops out enough to drop android auto.

Even with these changes it still dropped out. Not sure if maybe it took longer before it actually dropped out, so it may have helped but not enough.

I might drop the signal strength back to 14.

I am going to test some parametres change, but need help with these, what it changes/means exactly ?

- WLAN_DIAGNOSE = aktiv ...?

- WLAN_WIFI_MODE = ap+go ... ap=acces point, go=....?
