I can’t install my softwRe either. It says on my M340i 2023; that I will be notified when is ready to install. But in my app it says “ready to install” (2 weeks ago) any help? Or recommendations?

Ran into same issue. First two updates, no problem.
For third, had to go to dealer. The fully charged the battery, then did update. Apparently, my battery was only 77% charged. No idea why a few long drives should have taken care of that. They charged it and did the update. No cost, as I have warranty until June. They also said the battery was 'within spec' likely to prevent me from making a warranty claim on it. My BMW batteries typically go 5 years... |

I can upload it no problem, and then it just sits there for weeks never installing. It was the same with the July 22 update - eventually that one expired and the app said there were no updates available. I am now trying the November 22 update. The car is only 2 years old as well, so I doubt the battery is shot. I drove 600 miles the the lake District and back last week as well, and still nothing. I think this is just a plain old BMW bug. Very annoying to have to take the car to the dealers for a day - with all the hassle of getting someone to pick me up and drop me off - just to get the flipping software updated! And hearing the horror stories of $450 bills, I'd better make sure any future upgrades are done before the warranty runs out! £120k car and can't even update the flipping software. |

I appear to have the same issue. The update is stuck - downloaded from the app but not installing in the car. I'm now 2 versions out of date. And my battery is only a few weeks old so no issues with that. The car is due to have its next service in June so it may be that I will get a software update then. Or maybe I won't bother, as everything else is still working perfectly and it might bugger something else up! I'm out of warranty and I believe the BMW stealership charges $250 for the software update, which is a joke.

I previously have answered a similar question, I find BMW firmware update condition is very harsh! I always need to have my 320i fully charged for the install to kick in. Last month my 11/2022 update won't install even after I think the battery is fully charged(based on my trickle charger status). The update went expired but last week I get the download notification again, this time I leave the conditioner on for more than 24 hours and next morning I finally see the install ready message. So leave it charged longer, since I am sure your conditioner has overcharged protection Hope that helps |

I tend to leave it hooked up until I need to use the car which is sometimes a couple of days. |

Having the same problem on my 2019 G21 330i. Tried charging the battery multiple times but no success yet. Have been pretty cold which could be a factor.
Car is currently on a 10 ampere CTEK charger for > 12 hours and I’m still not able to update it. Will leave it on the charger today. If this doesn’t work I will probably wait until the next maintenance (September). Previous updates installed without any issues over the air. Currently on the 07/2022 software which is running fine. |

My update finally installed last night. I hope it didn't mess anything up.

finally updated
I have an iphone and when checked the app in settings and the Local Network was not selected and after selecting it the car finally started the download from my phone to the car. After driving for about 15 minutes the upload was complete and I then parked the car, set the parking brake and the download started and only took an additional 20 minutes. Hope this helps.

Would you mind telling us what message you received on the app before it loaded? I THINK my update may be ready. The message on My BMW says “The upload for your BMW M440i was completed successfully. Please follow the installation instructions on the control display in the vehicle. The installation can only be performed while parked.” Does this mean it may install if I set the parking brake?
Thanks |

Also,
once you select upload software in the cars settings, it will walk you through the steps in setting the car up to start the download. No guess work. |

I figured I'd pile on here with the clusterf*** that is BMW Remote Software "Upgrades."
I thought the 2020 330i we have was on 11/2022 software, but it actually was on 07/2022. Got the notification to update to the latest version, which has never been a problem in the past. Software downloaded to the latest MyBMW app on an iPhone 14 Pro Max running the latest iOS. It was transferred and "prepared" in about 25 minutes to the car while driving. Nothing out of the ordinary, again. However, it has never given the option to install after shutting the car off. Multiple iDrive resets and it just says it'll install when ready. After weeks of it never installing, I ended up just taking it in to a local dealer today. They pulled a product specialist to look and see if the software was on my MyBMW app. It was. They verified the car is ready to install but won't give the option to when the ignition it turned off. Now I'm familiar with the issues with battery and/or outside operating condition not being optimal causing it to not install. However, they just told me this afternoon that it's an actual system error throwing a fault and that the head unit will need to be reprogrammed completely. Unfortunately, the car is no longer under factory warranty. And despite it having a BMW Extended Service Contract with Platinum coverage, in which the latest brochure says provides comprehensive infotainment coverage, software updates are not covered. Yup, a failed OTA RSU that just won't install and go away as a notification on the iDrive screen and MyBMW app will cost money to fix. This is in despite of having the highest level of BMW's own extended warranty. Despite it not being user error for the failure to install. Despite paying a yearly fee for ConnectedDrive which covers map and software updates OTA. And also despite it not being because of the battery or conditions around the vehicle. It's all because "BMW doesn't cover software updates after the factory warranty ends." Pretty lame excuse, BMW.

Were they able to manually update your car? They manually updated my car when it refused to update but they did not tell me the reason. |

I'm in the same camp too. For over 2 months I've been waiting for the update to be installed. Still no luck even doing the battery conditioner charger and resetting the infotainment unit via volume knob. BMW won't cover the cost to have the dealership to update the car with the claim that its not covered under warranty.

If you have an IPHONE click on settings and scroll down to the (my bmw) app and make sure that (local network) is selected. Once I did that the previous update uploaded and I was just able to upload the latest 2023 update yesterday with no issues.

Likewise, the software update will not install
Just another one joining in.
I can get the update loaded, but it will not install. This now occurred for the last 2 updates that I've loaded but the car will not install the software. Really quite frustrating. |
