Random Electric Gremlins
For the past few weeks I have been experiencing random gremlins on startup. Typically they go away when car is restarted. I thought it might be battery related, but the battery checks out as okay.
Here is a listing: 1) Image of 330i on dash screen replaced by image of an X3 on initial startup, but then reverts to 330i. 2. Clock time replaced by dashed lines. (Needs to reset in iDrive) 3. Windshield wiper came on by itself 4. BMW voice assistant came on by itself 5. Front camera didn’t activate when parking 6. Foot activated trunk lift failed to work 7. Random warning messages that have appeared on startup: a. Parking brake nonoperational b. Avoid rough braking c. Service interval indicator not functioning d. Mechanical system nonoperational, car cannot be driven. (Or something to that effect. Note: car was operational) Overall car runs fine. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Dealer is perplexed and can't run diagnostic tests for several weeks due to backlog. |

So if the battery itself is OK, could it be a weak connection that cause too much voltage drop while starting?
Does the same problem occur by just turning the car "ON" but not engaging the starter motor? |

Just tried it. Appears to be the same. I did receive the message "Low battery charge". I received the message again when starting. When I repeated, however, there wasn't any message. So either the dealer was wrong and there is a battery problem or the message itself is random.
