BMW G20 320i - First BMW - Mods?
Decision + purchase has been made, thank you all who gave their advice on the G20 as I was deciding between 320i vs 330i.
I decided to go with a Black 320i G20 M sport 3 days ago (metallic and privacy glass), no additional packs managed to purchase one with only 25k miles on the clock! I fell in love after test driving it, just a bit of background - I am coming from a modest and not so fast Ford Focus so I decided not to test drive the 330i at all after I gave the 320i a go. It plentiful for UK roads picks up speed quickly, amazing handling, great tech and looks amazing in person so I can understand the G20 hype now! My thinking is to get used to the 320i power, it is plenty enough for me and then once I get accustomed to it my plan is to then upgrade to 330i with of course better packs, adaptive suspension (if possible) and the other cool gadgets as a much newer model. Many of you recommended going straight to the 330i but I think coming from my Focus it would be more enjoyable to get used to 320i power and then upgrade again (getting the enjoyment of new car again) to the 330i. Are there any mods you guys recommend in terms of exterior, maybe door LED lighting with the BMW logo? I was thinking of getting the exhaust changed and throw in some Michelin tyres too! Don't want to do anything too crazy like a stage 1. |

Don’t worry too much about trinkets like puddle lights. If you’re already considering some decent tyres for it also get it booked in for a proper geometry set up to make sure it’s set up perfectly.

Whatever you do, don’t get logo puddle lights, unless you want it to look like a chavved-up pile of shite, and I’m assuming that’s not the look you’re going for.
Enjoy your new car. |

No need for puddle logo lights. M sport models have the carpet lights that shine down the side of the car anyway.
Puddle logos just look odd when they shine over the carpet light. |

Agree......puddle lights with a logo only suit certain cars......
My wife's Mini has them, look like a batman symbol from a distance, but look cool on her 'go-kart'. Agree with things like set up. I had mine done by the dealer on purchase as I felt the front was out. So much better afterwards. But enjoy the car........take time to enjoy it...........Focus to BMW.......creates a problem........you'll probably now never consider go back.......badge and quality will always win now lol. |

Is there anywhere you recommend I assume the local kwik fit would do the above right? Also in terms of the tyres - it currently has some run flats from new and front are mixed - for the 320i or g20 in general is there a requirement for what the tyres should be for example less or more on front/back or can I just simply get some all round pilot sports 18 - not really sure of the number specifics or where to double check this. Cheers

Yeah after thinking about it I don’t want it to look tacky. I have the BMW problem now already, when I look at a Mercedes or Audi it’s not the same I think I’ll be sticking to BMW forever haha. I was also thinking to get the engine number removed for a sleeker look I probably should’ve told the dealer before purchase but as you know you get excited and just want the car home don’t want to waste any time. |

Congrats on the new car!
Bear in mind the more you spend modifying this one it will likely loose you more come resale time, plus all that cash could be put towards a shiny new 330i or.... m340 For the exhaust just unplug the flap so it sounds like sports mode all the time (sound proofing is good in the g20 so you won't hear too much anyway) and maybe tuning box if you want a bit more oomph. |

Currently in Reading but moving to midlands soon! I found some good garages so will get the wheels aligned of course after replacing them, sorry if it’s a stupid question but I can get the wheels done without alignment at one place then go after to an independent to align it, the place fitting my tyres won’t be messing with this beforehand right?

Yeah, that’ll be fine, just changing the tyres won’t mess anything up then go to a specialist to get the geo set up.
Dunno anyone round that way myself but there must be someone. Doesn’t need to be a bmw specialist, just someone with proper alignment kit (“Hunter” is the known brand). From there it’s down to the skill of the operator so seek out someone with a r3commendation. |

Just noticed you’re moving to the midlands. If so these guys have a good rep. Not used them myself.
