Good riddance. If you’re street racing like an idiot and putting others at risk, the least amount of punishment is his own doing. IMO.

It's very sad that a life was lost but what do you expect running on the street like that, putting others at risk. It was only a matter of time
Not to mention no cage, no harness... Really |

It’s a tragic situation, and no one should be driving at those speeds on public roads. It’s dangerous for everyone involved. This could have been even worse if he’d harmed innocent bystanders, and thankfully, that didn’t happen. I completely agree that street racing like that should never happen, but saying “good riddance” is just disrespectful. He has friends, and maybe even family members, on this forum.

I do not condone street racing. There are a lot of people that have senselessly lost their lives to street racing & takeovers. With that said, I do not know of a single person that drives a sports car with performance mods that has not put themselves in a dangerous situation. The vast majority of users on this site, including myself, could have just as easily been this guy….not necessarily street racing, just pushing the limits. May God watch over all of us & may this young man rest in peace.

He had a Helmet on fell off during the crash, a roll cage with proper harness and seat would of held him in a secure spot while everything else happened around him, would of it saved his life there is no way to tell but he would of had a higher chance of survival

If he was really moving as fast as claimed, 160+, and hit a pole sideways, nothing is going to save him.
There is a reason, besides not risking the lives of people who are not involved, is tracks are designed to minimize damage during high speed crashes. That is why you do not have random light poles trackside. It is a shame someone lost their life. I can remember being young and feeling invincible. I was lucky to have survived my youth. Condolences to his family. Maybe someone takes it from the street to the track and there is at least a small positive in an otherwise senseless death. |

Please keep in mind, it hit a pole sideways at a reported 160mph.The car was split in two and the drivers seat. A FIA spec cage would not have saved him. But lets pretend he had a FIA spec cage you would find in a rally car and it did not understandably fail. You have to deal with the staggering amount of energy when the car decelerates from 160 to 0 in basically no time. You now how to deal with things like internal decapitation, trauma to internal organs, etc.. |

[QUOTE=AshtonPJT;31629975]The car didn’t go from 160-0 it continued to spin and roll for hundreds of feet
Before or after the pole cut in half? Do you understand the energy required to actually cut a car in half? Cages help but they are not some magical protection system. And as I said, there are other items to think about. Like the forces on your body. |
