I recently bought an M440i and am looking for tires set up recommendations. I rarely take the car to the track so just looking for good daily driver tires that I can have some fun with on the weekends. I am still pretty new to this stuff so not sure what to look for.

The definition of "having fun" can vary from spirited driving on country roads to hard-core track sessions. Given your location -- do you see temps below 40F at all? -- I suspect something like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S4 or Continental DWS06 Plus all-season high-performance tire would be the gold standard. If you never see cold temps, then I would think the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (summer) performance tire would be the ticket.

I ran P4S all winther in Virginia no issues on M3 and M340, but I do no drive on snow and when it is too cold, like below 30. For daily beater I use DWS 06, it has soft sidewall, but grip and comfort is great, a bit floaty. With age though DWS gets better and stiffer, but grip remains the same.

I am in North Carolina so we don't see that many days below 40, although we will see a few. Can you feel that much of a difference between the tires at those temps?

For normal street driving, little difference. On the track, you would feel the difference. Track + all-seasons = not optimum.

If you decide on the Pilot Sport 4S, get the BMW OEM versions.
