2025 M340i - Break in no needed
Any enlightenment on 2025 M340i only exhaust sound clips? Stock and aftermarket. If tuned, which tune and how much? Stock sounds on the 25’ definitely would not be as loud as 2020’s for what I’ve seen on videos.
So far, the dealer recommended a local shop where they “know” what to do before and after warranty, I’m waiting for a list of options but so far they’re recommending Dinan exhaust with a Racechip or Dinan tune and Dinan cold air intake, claiming 80hp gains but last I heard from them was that this isn’t yet available for 2025’s. If you care about your car then follow brake in procedures. It is not complicated keep below 4K rpm for 1200 miles, vary rpm’s, then gradually increase and no full throttle, launch control and be gentle with car.

First, congratulations! Please post some pics when you get a chance. Second, here is a thread from last year addressing your question. Basically, of course there’s a break-in period, and it will be outlined in the manual. Why would the dealer say that? That makes no sense. https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2051744 Enjoy your ride, and have a lot of fun — especially after the breaking in! |

It's 1200 miles for that engine. I have a '25 M440 (same engine). It's still fun to drive and I'm only 500 miles from break in now. I'll change the oil at 1200, and you can't go full throttle until you hit 2K on the odometer according to the manual.
HRF also pointed me in the right direction and I checked the manual as well. |

Is not about following or not the manual, is about what the dealer said and anyone’s experience not doing it. (And yes, I also suggest to follow the manual)

the manual says 1,200 miles. could of been a miscommunication with the dealer because the m's require an oil and differential fluid change at 1200 miles.
just take it "easy" the first 1,200 miles... or do what you want. your choice. |

It’s full of useful information for any new car owner. Many ignore it, because it’s boring. It’s also a good resource to confirm, or question, what some dumb ass at the dealership tells you. Enjoy your new car, OP! |

Probably the dealer meant that there's no break-in service included in the maintenance plan for the non-M cars. But of course there's still a break-in period regardless.

Dealers, and especially sales reps, need to do better. If they don't know the answer to a question, they simply should not answer it, or instruct the buyer on where to find the answer, or even something like "I don't know offhand, but I will get back to you."

Even your tires and stereo require a break-in; let alone the vehicle engine/mechanics. It’s best to follow what the manual calls for. I can’t imagine your dealership saying otherwise; it’s likely they were referring to break-in service and you probably misunderstood.
