Need help with garage door opener

Just picked up an M340i. My 12th BMW, including an M3 and a ZHP. Best of the bunch. Amazing technology, a step-jump.

But, I'm Absolutely unable to get the garage door opener to work. Rolling code LiftMaster. Have followed directions in owner manual, LiftMaster book, online, etc. Kicking my butt.

Anyone else encounter this? Fix? Point to good info? Tks.

I just took delivery of mine the other day (my 8th!) and this was the first thing I did when I got home.

Take your garage door opener and simultaneously press and hold the opener button and the mirror button you want linked. After 10 seconds the mirror light will blink rapidly.

Now go to the actual lift motor in your garage and hit the synch button so it flashes. You'll have about 30 seconds to get back to your car and hit the mirror button 3 times.

That should do it. The door should now be linked.

Success! Had done that a gazzillion times, but always in Standby State, engine not running. The trick: car has to be running. Not just turned on electrically: engine going. Great thanks.

Am I missing something? How do you get your vehicle to open your garage door? I have a "smart" garage door with the Merlin MyQ system. Is there a way to link that to the car somehow??

Yes for MyQ. TheObviousChild has it right, but car must be running, not just turned on.

any update on this? I already regret about purchasing LiftMaster. Saw it on this list, could not get why it's on the top... Tried program Chamberlain with HomeLink before, did not work out, neither

I had the hardest time linking my four cars to it. Hold down the 1 and 3 buttons on the homelink in car until it blinks rapidly. Once cleared, go to the garage door opener and click sync button while car is facing opener. Make sure you are right outside of garage. It would help if you had a second person. Make sure you use the number 3 button to code for opening.
Also if this doesn't work, take your opener and hold it towards link and do the same steps. Both have worked for me.

I just picked up my 2019 330i - was a BMW North America Corporate car! It has almost every package except for the adaptive M-suspension addition. I went to go program my mirror for the garage tonight and I noticed I don't have the Homelink mirror. I checked on the build sheet for the car and sure enough, it shows up as "removed" - I noticed when checking the build sheet for other 2019s built around this time (late 2018...so some of the first produced for the G20) that have the Executive Package they also have this "Uni garage door opener removal" ZDO code listed. Does anyone know why this could be? Does anyone else who has basically every package/option specd NOT have the Homelink mirror? I was super disappointed that mine did not come with this when it has almost every other option!

Thanks!
