It'll be same story again. First impressions will be "ooh ah numb steering, too easy to drive fast--boring, hate smooth shifting auto, rides too stiff with comp pack etc"

Then they'll tweak hundreds of little things to fix initial issues then slap LCI on it, just to piss off early adopters.

G80 is going to be a much better performance machine is every aspect, there is no question about it. Several years of R&D is going leave no stone unturned
when it comes to extracting most performance while working within the tight confinements of the safety, cost, efficiency, and whatnot

I am aware of the reason for the hate. Point is there is always something people will point at and criticize to the end of time and more often than not get over.

Yup, I really would have thought they'd put some more effort into it, nows the chance with it being a new unveiling AND especially when merc have just come out with this wheel (in a non-full fat AMG). I mean come on...

Not looking for arguments, just curious if it's similar setup to the way the F90 does it. I'll poke around the interwebs...

Ah, ok. Yes, I recall reading a BMW official saying something to the extent that they were happy that they have managed to fit the M5’s M Xdrive system into the G8X with little effort. So the likelihood is very high that it will be exactly the same physical system and functions, possibly with some software tuning to better fit the more track biased use case of the M3/M4 vs the M5’s tuning.

Whether that system is AWD or 4WD is a rabbit hole

Just so long as it doesn't handle like an Audi - zero steering feedback and massive understeer. I will reserve judgement til the reviews start coming in, but so far we've only seen this system used in massive boats and SUVs where people weren't expecting much.

Is there a pic of the steering wheel everything is talking about?

Similar (identical) to the one in the X3M/M5

I really want to like the new m3/m4 but I'm not so sure I'll be able to appreciate it! It seems like since the e30 every generation m3 has been a unique and refined version of its former self while still retaining the core Bmw m values

Each car had features that make them unique while being able to create the same feeling

When the f80/82 came out I knew it would be an instant classic those cars look like the perfect progression from the e90/92 with all the higher tech and modern features along with a really good engine (even though it's not n/a)

These new ones however really aren't doing it for me and the looks don't seems to fall in line with the core Bmw characteristics! Also the fact that they are bringing an awd version into the mix goes again what the m3/4 should be! If you want an awd m sedan just get the m5
