2020 M340i oil consumption
It was at max right after the oil change and it has been 6000 miles since then.
Service indicator shows 4100 miles remaining for next oil change. Should i just top up the oil? Is this amount of oil consumption normal in B58? |

top it off. all 3 BMWs I've owned use both oil (around 1qt) and some coolant. only time to be concerned is if you need to top off more than once between changes.

My 2020 M340i hasn't used any oil in 22000 miles and 3 oil changes.
Wouldn't say yours is normal unless you drive it hard, but still acceptable according to BMW. |

You are fine as long as the oil level is above the min mark. You can add oil now or later. It is possible that you will not have to add oil before the oil change. However, I would not wait until the light comes on. If the level drops close to min, I would definitely add oil.

Yeah our oil is too thin and I can’t imagine driving with it for 10K or 12 months. Nada. I do mid-OCI at home every 5K or 6 months; takes 25 minutes.

Burning a quart or two between changes is normal. My old 2013 Volvo S60 started burning a quart every 1000 miles at 70k, that is the type of oil consumption to be truly concerned about.
