Then they turn them on every time they get in. I don't know, but it's annoying.

The law also regulates the frequency blink rate that the turn signal flashes and its minimum cubic square feet (7 3/8s). I incorrectly assume that it was exclusive to an incandescent bulb outage but it's applicable to LEDs also. It's an audible indication that the turn signal light is defective. Cool feature, yet there are rubes out there that still drive around with their turn signals on for miles.. 🤷🏻 Its possible that you might have adjust something related to the sensitivity or possible disable that feature, to avoid the rapid-flashing because I'm believe the vehicle is assuming there is a turn signal outage. I'm digging into it further but the info is scant. Regardless, I'm sure it can be coded out, since the vehicle is shared with regions that doesn't require this, so BMW would of designed it to be toggle-able. |

Since ECE lights are different and do not have the additional brake light strip, once plugged into the car, hyper-falshing should go away. At least that is my theory. The theory is to go get a set of European Spec tail lights, plug them in and code the car to ECE values and hyper-flashing issue should be solved. In theory again, when the rear fogs are wired, they should start functioning at the same time.

I did some thinking over the weekend and decided to code using G01_ECE file as X3's tails are more similar to G20 than G30 cars behave.
Results were the same. No rear fogs but brake lights were separated from turn signals, inner turn signals also did not work and hyper-flashing continued to occur. I am still thinking that this is a hardware issue and hyper-flashing is happening due to different plugs of the ECE lights that we are missing. I will continue to report as I do more digging.

Hi guys, has anyone had any definitive luck with this task?
I'm in the process of getting a 330ix via a military/diplomatic sales program in Germany. I'm not required to meet Dutch specs, but I don't want to stand out with the goofy US/Canada tails. I need to check with the local dealer to see how much I can get the tails for, otherwise it seems there's a shop in Denmark that has the whole set for under $1k. Do you have the Euro lightswitch part #? As for the coding, I'm new to BMW but I've had a decent amount of experience with VAG-COM/VCDS in the VW and Audi world. Hopefully this can carry over. Thanks. |

It looks like someone figured out how to code and we are still waiting for what parameters need to be changed. See below link. https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...4&postcount=42 BMW (advanced) coding is more complicated / difficult than VCDS and doesn't have the same type of support VW / Audi folks have in the community IMO. Case in point, above link or the OP who started this thread. We will keep this thread alive until someone figures out what parameters will need to be changed to have our tails operate like ROW cars and activate rear fog lights...... which will require wiring btw. Keep us posted with your findings.

Thanks for the response.
I wouldn't be paying the VAT and the exchange rate is pretty decent now - I'll check with them just for a baseline. I'll definitely do some digging before pulling the trigger. The "coding" portion of this forum is much more active than the VCDS section on the one VAG site I've been on for ever... it's too bad there's not better support for tasks like this in the BMW world. Hopefully I can figure something out. |

Has anyone dealt with BPM Sport?
In an email exchange with them it appears they can do the programming... Quote:

NA Tail lights with ECE brake and turn signal behaviour.
Like some of you, I dislike the function of the turn-signals in our NA tail lights and I really missed the brakeforce and rear fog lights I had coded into my 435iX.
So like some of you, I tried to FDL code the BDC_BODY to behave like the ECE tail lights but I could not discover how the tail lamp LEDs are physically and logically referenced/mapped. Without the mapping, it would be next to impossible to figure-out. I then came across a posting by greekcs on side-marker delete (by changing the typecode to ECE and VO coding the FLM2s). I did not care to delete my side markers but I was curious to see if it would work. To my surprise, it worked.... on the F32 platform, this method would cause the turn-signals to hyperflash. So that gave me the idea of doing the same thing with BDC_BODY. 1) I compared the US and ECE versions of all BDC CAFD files and note the differences between the US and ECE parameters that I did not want to change. See below... 7083 NFC_KEY_VALD_LONG 5min 7083 NFC_KEY_VALID_WINDOW_OPEN 20sec 7083 PF_SZT_LIN_VAR nicht_aktiv 7083 RCI_HF_FREQUENCY wert_04 7083 RCM_DEFAULT_IDG_4TH_BUTTON_LONG Wert_03 7083 RCM_PANIC_ALARM aktiv 7083 RCM_PANIC_ALARM_3TIMES aktiv 7083 UGDO_COUNTRY USA 7083 VAM_CCM_COOLANT_TEMP aktiv 7083 WW_FRONTWASCHEN_VIA_SRA_OUTPUT aktiv 2) I edited my FA Typecode to ECE, VO Coded BDC_BODY and FDL Coded the parameters I noted in 1) back to the US values. 3) I then added back my BDC Cheat Codes and custom FDL Coding. Guess what... it worked.... Brake lamps are no long functioning as turn-signals and the rest of the tail lamps (parking, turn, back-up) appear to function properly in both outer and inner assemblies. I still need to test brakeforce (I want all three brake lamps to flash). FYI, my tail lights did not come with LED ICs soldered onto the Fog lamp PCB. Please note in my experience, the brightness/lumenous output for turn-signals and parking lamps are lower for ECE than NA so these lamps in the rear will not be as bright as the fronts unless you follow greekcs' method for side-marker delete. Edit: Tested brakeforce when it got dark outside. Brakeforce appears to be working properly i.e. all 3 brake lamps are blinking. Larry

Yes, but in determining which parameters to reverted back to NA, I also included the other ECE - related fdl coding changes I had already implemented (headlights & auto doors lock/unlock) and plan on implementing (rear fogs - I am waiting on a set of ECE tail lights and an ECE light switch). These parameters include:
1DF8 C_AFS_ECO_LEVEL_3_ENA 1DF8 C_AFS_ENA 1DF8 C_BLC_PRE_ENA 1DF8 C_CLC_CURV_V2 1DF8 C_CLC_CURV_V3 1DF8 C_CLC_EXT_ENA 1DF8 C_HBA_GFHBA_ENA_V_HI 1DF8 LUT_AFS_CODRV_HOR 1DF8 LUT_AFS_DRV_HOR 1DF8 LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y 7083 CLI_DEFAULT_LOCK_AT_SPEED 7083 CLI_DEFAULT_UNLOCK_AFTER_END_OF_DRIVING 7083 CLI_DEFAULT_UNLOCK_SELECTIVE 7083 LCE_BEL_LIN_VAR 7083 NSL_VERBAUT 7083 NSW_AUS_BEI_FL 7083 NSW_EIN_AUF_LDS_STL 7083 TFL_MODUS. Please note I reverted 7083 LCE_BEL_LIN_VAR back to NA, in the interim, to eliminate the "warning/error" message in ISTA. Larry

Now if you guys can only lets us know how to do this through Bimmercode, it would be awesome.
