This wagon is faster and you CAN buy it in the US now. Thank you, Audi.

Yep, finally. It's also in another class and price range, though. These "new" RS6's have been ripping down the autobahn for years already. I think there's like a 2 year delay on every new VW/Audi that comes to the US. And of course we still don't get them all.

Compare the 'Ring times and the gap will be even bigger, albeit the RS6 costs a fair bit more than the M340i.

I bought a C63 S "wagon" which sits between the two in terms of performance, but without the size of the RS6

Not trying to be a smart ass or in favorite of the wagon. But tbh when the m340i first came out with its impressive straight line performance, many people cried about it not performing as well as a M car on track, and now with this people are saying track time don't matter? Wtf people?

End of the day, you like whichever car you want and of course for a good amount of reasons. The technologies in cars will improve and surpass cars that's made in the past, and that's how everything should be lol.

All I'm trying to say is that, you like your car or have preference as to which car you like more, and that's fine. No need to attack the counterpart since there's nothing to prove here lol.

True, it will be beastly. Let's hope the bite (engine) outweighs the bark (looks).

Yes! A sudden wave of well maintained e90/92 M3s in the market would be nice.

Can we say for the E90 M3 time that it's the driver not the car? Maybe that would make folks feel better. Lol.

Tire compounds have evolved dramatically since then. Run that same e90 with the new compounds and I bet it picks up half a second at a minimum

Was this wagon on run flats? The E9X was on PS2's, which even today is even a great tire.

Little birdie told me they ran very low tire pressure as well to get those numbers.

Not sure in all honesty. Tire compounds have just made such significant advancements in the last 5 years, that I imagine the evolution over a 10-12 year period is staggering.

So you'd wager that today's run flat is equal to, or better than, a PS2 from the E9X?

I'm not sure I'd wager on it lol but it would be interesting to hear. I have no idea what tires were used to test each car to be honest. Was just stating that if the e9x M3 was running a new generation tire that it would be interesting to see the time it would post.

This.

Tire compounds changes A LOT so that's the main reason the e9x's old lap times are slower. Another is driver and test day weather. These lap times are not relevant unless they are done on the same day with same or similar drivers and tires.

Wagon was on PS4S non run flat tires. They are MUCH better than PS2's. The E9x M3 on PS4S is much quicker than on PS2.

Thanks for clarifying...I was thinking to myself it wouldn't make much sense to track a car on run flats lol

100% Glad someone else agrees and understands how much compounds have evolved!
