Am I being overcharged for install?

Hey guys I have a 2020 M340i X-Drive with adaptive suspension. I am being quoted from $900 to $1300 to install H&R lowering springs on my car (designed to work with the adaptive suspension). Am I being overcharged for this? The shop I went with ended up saying it’s gonna take 3-4 days because it’s AWD and adaptive suspension so will take longer. This shop quotes me $1300. I had already dropped off my car but they already started on my car before they quoted me so it was too late to pull back. I learned after the fact which pissed me off. Anyways, I asked another shop and they said $900 and will take around 6 hours… did I make a big mistake. Im being charged almost $400 more and having to leave my car there 4-5 days vs being done in 1 day and saving all that money. I should have known better and asked for a quote before hand, the reason I didn’t was because I’ve been taking my car here for a long time and knew he was always fair on pricing til I learned what he quoted me. Im so annoyed by this

Why would you leave your car at a shop without being quoted prior?

For reference, I was charged $400 labor for installation of Dinan springs on my RWD, non adaptive. Labor time was 4 hours total.

You’re right but it’s because this was my go to shop I’ve been going to for over 3 years now, always prices fair and was trustworthy since then, so I would just drop off my car and pay whenever he was done. Same thing this time til he told me the quote :| do you think adaptive suspension and xdrive really makes it that much more complicated?

I’ll let others chime in on that. In the meantime you could call around other reputable bmw focused shops and obtain a quote.

My shop at that time is a well known shop in Orange County specializing in bmws. They are a bit more efficient than others as they service nothing but bmws day in and day out. That may also play a part in why I paid such a lower amount.

I payed $750 for springs and alignment but I am in the Silicon Valley. I was stoked for that price.
