No one wants the wagon they want the SUV and manufacturers have to adapt to the customers preference especially when it becomes no longer justifiable to develop and federalise for a market that a majority has no interest in.
When bmw is working to make sure a car doesn't sell well for sure you will end up with the expected result.

1) The F30 and F31 should have been priced the same for the equivalent model from the start
2) The F31 should have been available with the same option as the north American F30 (F31 320i and xi F31 328i and F31 335i/xi should have been included. Manual transmission option as well.
3) For the Canadian market you only have 2 lines (Modern and M-Sport) Should have been available with Classic and sport line as well.
4) Bmw should have stop thinking were stupid and sell the 328d as a 320d and price it accordingly(I know I got one but it was only because I was able to get a major price reduction that I bought it)
5) The Touring should have the same towing capacity as the European equivalent model

The X3 and X1 are selling better because they are priced better. Volvo is currently bringing new wagons (V60 XC) and V60 are fairly new. Volkswagen is also selling the Golf Sportwagon like hot cakes and they are going to bring an Alltrak version. Audi also has the Allroad and we never heard any words about the end of this car. So If BMW has to adapt somewhere it could be to bring an Allroad fighter (F31 X-line for example). So Volvo are developing the segment so does VW group but BMW want to bring us X2 and X4(Perfectly pointless vehicles). I really see a bright future for you guys...

The 4er Gran Coupe is approaching its year 1 anniversary for the market and we see an increase month by month for the practical 4er.

Both 5er GT and 3er GT are proving very popular and have their specific markets also. The 3er GT has exceeded its initial target of 10% of total 3er sales.
And so has the 5er GT which is also conceived to take 10% of total 5er sales , again exceeded which is why we will see a more elegant and re-visioned replacement.

First off, appreciate your time and response... you have always been a font of reasoned knowledge here.

Perhaps its just me, but I dont understand why certain cars get supported the way they do... if its backed by the sales numbers and the company continues to grow, great then.

The 6er GC has the most beautiful and well laid out cockpit of any BMW. But the back seats suffer due to headroom and visibility... which is why I have a M5 instead.

The 4er GC is a four-door F32, with a hatchback and reduced headroom. alternatively, there is a 3er GT, with an even bigger hatchback and is uglier... which is why I have a 335ix instead.

As much as I want a wagon, the F31 is just too small. Put a kid's seat in the center and try to put two adults on either side. Your comment about the market forces driving SUV production are spot on. Sadly, the X5 at its price point hasnt kept up with some of the design features I want, and the X1 and X3 are decidedly too small for my needs... which is why I just ordered a new Volvo XC90.

I am sure my next car will be a BMW, but this is the first time I have deviated from the marque in quite some time. Dilution of the brand should be a real fear. Infinite model options create complexity -- lack of certain models from the US market from a global company creates frustation.

2, 4 and 6 series (4 doors?)

I see that each of the "even number" series cars either have, or are coming out with 4 door models with the latest being the 2 series gran tourer (mini van?). I thought BMW's plan was to have the odd series cars to be 4 door models and the even numbered to be 2 doors. Why the deviation from this vision?

For the 3rd time this week some total stranger told me that I have a beautiful car(328 F31). Seem like they all got the same thing in common, they were unaware of the existence of the F31. How many times did I saw publicity for the F31 in the newspaper never! How many time did I saw F30 publicity? I stop counting. They were just next to the X1 and X3 publicity. The G21 will surely work if you do some efforts selling it.

mumble M1 mumble

Why not? Do a R8/SLS crossover with gull wings, mid engine and some corners in the snout.

Update 6/20/15 (I hope this is big enough to make up for the long silence):

F39 is still using the "Xcite" designation. Whether or not it will be marketed as X2, is unclear. The good news is that in addition to the FWD and AWD 25i models (probably to be marketed in the U.S. as 28i), there will be the xDrive35i model.

There wil be an update to i3. Not exactly clear on what that will mean - probably a bigger battery.

G01 X3 is being tested with a range of 4- and 6-cyl B engines, and both 30e and 40e PHEV setups.
G02 X4 is diesel and gas only, no hybrid at the moment.
G08 X3 LWB is planned for China.

G32 5GT will get the same engines as the other G3x models, including the hybrid.

The new generation of the Phantom, just like the Cullinan, will be built on the new 7-series platform.

There are some hints that B48 may get a version with 400cc per cylinder displacement. This makes as little sense to me as to y'all, considering all the noise about 500cc being the perfect size and the single parts bin for all B engines, but still there it is.

The PPK (M Performance Power Kit) for 340i/440i is in the works.

BMW is working on more driver assist features. In the future, the vehicle will inform the driver about the possibility of overtaking, the right of way, and pedestrians behind the vehicle.

Or, and we've all heard that BMW doesn't really want to play nice with Apple, and CarPlay may not be coming, right? Well, maybe, or maybe not.

For the 400cc version of the b48 I think that mini already use a 400cc version of the B38. My guess is that a 1.6L 4cyl might be smoother to operate compare to a 1.5L 3cyl.

No, all B38 are 1.5l, same 500cc per cylinder. B48B16, if it comes, will be unique in that regard.

What about the B38A12U0 then? 1198cc pretty close to the 400cc mark.

Well, duh. I totally missed that one. Just shows how much attention I pay to Mini (pretty much none). Thanks for pointing this out.

Hidden deep inside recent BMW Blog reporting, there's a pretty huge thing for those who care about their drivetrains.

It would be nice if Scott could chime in and tell us what he knows about 2TF.

BMW individual is already available for the F30 and has been for a while. Used to work for a center last year and did a completely individualized 335i in LSB with custom interior.

Gran Coupe designations are to allow a 4 door model of its 2 door counterpart. the suspension and rigidity between the 3 series and the 4 series are completely different. for example the 4GC drives stiffer and sportier as the frame is much stiffer, it actually feels like a two door. they are originally designed as small segments but as we saw in the U.S. the 6 Gran Coupe far outperformed its expectations as old 7 series lovers wanted a new sporty luxury 4 door that the 7 coulden't provide.

They really going to fit an inline 6 in the front of the X2? The 4 cylinder in the X1 already looked like a tight fit.

My guess is no more than 20hp and 30tq (underrated, of course) if they do make a M power kit for the 340i. 370-380 would be too close to the M3, so don't expect similar numbers to the C450 amg, even though, the 340i with powerkit would most likely be faster than the C450

FAQ:
Can you tell me when these models are coming out?
- Not anymore.

Can you tell me which of these models will come to market, and which ones we'll never see?
- No.

What options will be available on these cars?
- I list everything that could be found on at least one model; for specific models, I provide the most interesting options known to be available on them.

Can you tell me where you found this info?
- No.

This is just the US market, EU is simply too varied to type in all combinations.

I have determined that I've been too optimistic in my ability to distinguish LCI in the constant stream of model updates. As a result, 2016 is no longer suggested to be the year when we will see LCI for F22, F32, F33, and F36. It is possible that this will be the timeframe for engine updates, with proper LCI happening later.

Given end of production for F80 is different from F82, would start of production be different too for the newer model of both the M3 and M4?

Hopefully you can confirm given both started production at the same time for the current models?
