Memory Buttons Gone Post 2022 Model? Any Replacement?
I have a 2022 330i, and I use the 1-8 buttons next to the volume dial frequently. They're called "programmable memory buttons" in the manual.
My lease is nearing completion, and I'm in the market for a new 330. Looking at interior photos of the 2024 330s, it appears those 1-8 memory buttons are missing. Is there any replacement for their functionality? Are we supposed to use voice commands instead? I have button 1 programmed to jump to the screen for switching CarPlay connected phones. I use it frequently when my wife and I are both in the car and we want to switch to the driver's phone. It seems like that would be a complicated request with voice. I did search first, and found a few threads of people discussing how they set their memory buttons. Seems I'm not alone in using the 1-8 buttons for something complicated. There must be some replacement, right? |

They’re still there. Just not a physical button. You can swipe down from the top of the screen to get to them or nudge up on Idrive controller.
I prefer the nudge up on the controller so you don’t leave fingerprints all over the screen. |

They’re still there and better than before! Swipe from the top edge anywhere on the screen and the 1-8 shortcuts menu slides down. Big buttons, big descriptions, far more shortcuts across the system to put there, they’re great! |

Looks like you’re talking about the new big screen rather than previous separate infotainment and gauge cluster screens. Looks like basic climate controls are usually at the bottom of the screen. They removed some of the buttons. Overall it’s nice to have but they took out the console shift gate lever in favor of a switch which would be fine if it were an EV rather than mild hybrid. Yes you can use the paddles but shifting while turning is easier with the shift gate. BMW the last to have that feature as even exotics like Lamborghini and McLaren don’t have it. M cars still get the console shift gate though.
