Normally stuff is kept close(r) to the chest during an active investigation. It sounds to me like somebody is talking to the press. We release information via our media personnel at headquarters.

In the height of Covid there were instances where a person would cite being Covid positive as a reason they didn't want to come outside of their residence or something, but ultimately they still came outside. I've never had somebody cite that on a traffic stop however.

What do cops think when they are behind a car that is obeying all the speed limit laws and traffic laws perfectly? Like when the speed limit is 35 and the car you're following is doing exactly 35 and stopping for a full second at every stop sign because they know the cop is behind them and don't want to get pulled over.

Are you just waiting for that car in front to make a mistake? Are you frustrated they're going so slow because they know a cop is behind them? Do you literally not care?

What stands out more are people traveling significantly slower or faster than the prima facie limit. I personally do not mind people actually coming to a complete stop at stop signs. Too many people run through signs and it annoys me (…and I write that citation a lot). My other two annoyances are driving a vehicle at night with no headlights or taillights in operation and people who tailgate/follow too closely. I cite for those A LOT as well. Most accidents can be avoided by coming to complete stops and following at a reasonable/safe distance.

I arrested a guy about 20 years ago, he had Rabies, I kid you not. Was wanted for a homicide.....Go to Jail Baby.

I guess my point is short of having Ebola you aren't going to escape on a serious matter. Now if your get caught speeding because you're suffering and IBD incident you might get some slack.

I don’t chime in much here as I’ve been out of LEO duty for 15 yrs.

But I treated most everyone as if they were HIV +, in possession of a weapon, and had an active warrant. I learned early on that if I used this mindset....my self and fellow officers would typically avoid injury and /or violence.

Sometimes I wonder if *ALL* the cash makes it back to the evidence room. I mean, the cash on display here *probably* did because there are photos of it...but the cash from the bust to the photo...that's the cash I wonder about.

They arrested the handyman today, after he allegedly made some incriminating statement during questioning. The noon NYC TV news talking heads mentioned that the spare house key that he used was kept in the BBQ grill. Leaking details like that is only going to taint the jury pool when it goes to trial.....
