That's in the back of my head when contemplating a flash. I'm in Europe with a US-spec car and I don't think there are any B46 tunes available from any European shops. So I'd have to ship back to the US… which is slow if I go the cheap route. All said and done I bet it would take a month. I could always bring the DME when we visit next summer…

As for the reflash, my warranty is up in May, so I can't imagine any sort of DME flash messing me up at the dealer.

When I comes to removing the DME, can I still close hood and lock the car? I'm parking on the street…

Dinanflash handheld tuner - bmw b58(m0) & b46 engine

Once that is resolved then the delivery vehicle (handheld in this case) can be worked on.

Is the DINANFLASH HANDHELD TUNER - BMW B58(M0) & B46 (PART# 4431) able to unlock and flash the G20 B46?

Not yet.

Look at the compatibility list on the press release.

This is near M35i B48 ratings. That engine is significantly beefed up and lower compression, do you not foresee issues with longevity?

Dinan evaluates all components and thoroughly tests their tunes prior to bringing them to market. B46/8's and even the N20 are all capable of handling this power safely given that you follow maintenance schedules and use the correct fuel.

All manufacturers build in large tolerances to their engines. There's always a risk with tuning but when done correctly it's pretty safe. People have been doing it for a very long time.

Dinan_Engineering While its crickets on this forum around feedback for the B46 flash tune, is there any feedback you can share from others outside this forum? How has the in house car fared with the tune? Any revisions done or planned?

Personally have only heard of 1 customer feedback from the support folks and it was positive but I didn't get any great insight or color to elaborate. Looking at flash history its not a hugely popular tune (probably due to year limitation) so there isn't a great number of folks to call on unfortunately. Think my only real basis for comments is internally with all the employees that drive it around for various tasks locally. Not uncommon to hear the complaints of it being slow/sluggish when its back to stock. Sorry I couldn't offer more. =/

No revisions have been done and none are planned at present that I am aware of.

I'll definitely go with this tune if it can be done with the flash tuner at some point.

Being stationed in Europe with a B46 has made options limited. That said, removing the DME from a street parked car and relying on either the military or an express consignment shipper to get the DME to Alabama and back just seems scary.
