My guess is you've been updated since you originally bought the car in 2019. Another guess is your exhaust note will be nothing like mine on earlier software. Mine is absolutely obnoxious! Just the way I like it. |

07/2021 brought nothing new. It's worth noting the software in this release was actually finalised late October 2020, and obviously takes that long to go through QA, so I imagine it is a covid related release as to why no features. Let's see what 11/21 brings in a few months

I'm still on 07/2020.80
Pretty sure M-Timer wasn't added until the following update? Curious if it works at the Nürburgring or just the various performance centers? |

Had my MY20 updated from 07.2020.x to 07.2021.x this morning. All pops and burbles are still there, even when lifting off light throttle at low rpms. I will need more seat time to verify any possible subtle changes

Let us know about the exhaust. I'm not a believer that they're muting everybody's exhaust but I also don't know why the updates affect some cars but not others. Is your car an early 2020 model? |

I did an OTA update from 11/2020.50 to 03/2021.50 this morning and there was absolutely NO change in the exhaust, shift points, etc. I can still make the exhaust crack, pop, and burble with ease. Edit: According to an online VIN decoder, my car's production date was 2019-03-13 |

I’m at the dealership today getting oil changed, they mentioned a software update to be done. I was previously on 7/2020, so will let you know what it gets updated to. I’m a 2021 M340i xdrive, and DME was locked so didn’t really care about getting the latest software. If anything, I’ve been checking for it and it doesn’t show as avaailble so curious to see what changes.

Got my car back from oil change and warranty work earlier this week (steering rack replacement). Software got updated to the 7/2021 (previously 7/2020) software.
Things seem pretty much the same, but the car does....drive slightly different. Can't put my finger on it. Could be ECU relearning after a reset I suppose and/or placebo affect, but it's 'smoother'(?). Speedometer still says it's fast, butt dyno says it's slower. Can't imagine they're continuing to nerf this engine though. Will need Dragy runs to really compare I think. |

Can anyone tell me what the latest firmware version is? I just checked my 2020 M340i and it currently shows 07/2021.46.

While BMW dealers have 11/2021, you have the most current OTA version BMW puts out 3 updates annually in: March, July and November; these updates are available to dealers in that month. It seems like OTA updates lag by one cycle-- in other words, in November, the July updates is available OTA. Hope that helps!

xnick101,
Glad that was helpful! As best I've found is to check the ConnectedDrive portal for release notes. Having said that, however, a couple of caveats: * While I have found release notes there eventually, seems they're slow to post them. * BMW North America has been "working" on site for some time and it is not always up to snuff BTW, haven't seen 11/2021 release notes yet either
