Software update without active ConnectedDrive subscription?

I let my ConnectedDrive subscription expire, wasn't using functionality as much as I thought, but when I now try to check if a software update is available, that ability is gone.

Has BMW paywalled the ability to update through MyBMW? My dealership says they cannot force an update, I have to through the app....

RSUs are part of the features listed with a CD subscription, so I’d assume you need the active subscription to get it.
