2020 330 Xdrive M package

I am wondering if anyone else with like BMW has tried to use regular gas instead of 89 octane that is stated on the gas tank? Any thoughts? Thank you.

Recommended AKI for stated vehicle performance is 91. Recommended minimum is 89. The manual also states:
"If you use gasoline with this minimum AKI Rating, the engine may produce knocking sounds when starting at high external temperatures. This has no effect on the engine life."

This knocking or pinging will probably be worse if you go lower than 89, and even if it doesn't cause engine damage, it will reduce engine performance and slightly worsen fuel consumption. So you probably aren't really saving anything by going with cheaper/lower octane gas.
