Any updates coming for the digital dash?

Just looking for any one who has heard of any rumours re major graphics updates for the digital dash. I love my G20 330e - a fantastic car so far. However, my previous Mercedes E Class had far more configuration for the digital dash.

I would love an option to chose a dash that looks like my old E46, or E92 dash. Or a rev counter that goes the right way round?!. Its all digital so must be possible!

The only difference I noticed after an update is the coolant temp gauge displays the word "cold" for around 60 seconds after you start the vehicle.

It's digital. It must be able to play video games and feed the neighbors dog.

I heard that in the next update, you can connect
your PS5 or XBOX Series X into the digital cluster and play games there

My car on 07.2019.38 shows it till it reaches that first demarcation (after the blue area; where the white part starts). I never noticed it before till a few months ago when someone mentioned it.

Nothing changed much on 07.2020 update.

The only change was the addition of the light symbol (side light not full headlights) for the rear DRL activation.

That feature only supports the PS4, they will release an OTA update (which actually has to be done at a dealer) in several years to support the PS5 right before the PS6 is released

Agree totally the i7 cluster is hard to read and a very poor design.

TBH, whilst I'm still thinking of moving from VW to BMW for my next car, VW's implementation of their AID (active info display - or digital dash to you and me), is infinitely clearer and more configurable than the BMW Idrive 7 one. And the VW has been criticised heavily by VW owners of not being configurable enough, and it's far from the best system out there !

Yes, VW might not have the best implementation of a digital display but it looks much clearer with more options than the BMW one. For me, it's the only thing that I think BMW haven't done 100% right, but not enough to put me off purchasing one.

For info, here's the AID in my GTI for reference

Standard display with large speedo in centre

Assistance systems view (ACC, Lane assist etc)

Navigation Display with large dials

Bigger navigation display with smaller dials

Infotainment (music playing) display

Cell Phone display

Car Status Display

Lap timer Display

In addition each dial can be configured with the Views display and so there are quite a few combinations available

Like I say it's not earth shattering, but when glancing quickly I think it's easier to assimilate all the info than it is on the BMW digital system, which at times can seem too dark and cluttered. Other car manufacturers (e.g. Mercedes) do it even better.

I agree with you, BMW's digital dash is there just to not be behind the competition, and frankly only reason I got it is because the "analog" looks too cheap and bad...

While the digital dash is limited, I honestly never look at it apart from checking fuel level and gear selection. The HUD has all the information I need and its brilliant.
