Correct. I changed the FA, removed 32X and then VO coded BDC + MGU.

I see. That is sometime Bimmercode is unable to do so. And FA and VO is beyond me. Haha

My only concern with changing the VO code is, I was told by a Master Tech that it’s possible the OTA server may use the the VO and chassis number algorithm to verify the update if they don’t match no update

I don’t know how true this is but it doesn’t bother me having to re code after an update.

If anyone knows better im all ears

I know that the car pushes the local information into the BMW backend.
This includes the current version and VO.
If there´s some algorithm checking the VO from factory against the current, i don´t know.
And it would take atleast another 5 months for me to find out :-)
I´m already at 11/2022.31 so the next OTA would be 03.2023 coming in 07.2023...

Hi everyone,

I was hoping for some help with this.

I've got the module installed (gen 2.5 as recommended) on my June 2021 build M340ix with 32X.

I've tried VO coding and also using Bimmercode but can't get it to work

The option shows up in the head unit but I keep getting error code 804178 Evaluation electronics, contact-free tailgate opening: Parameterization faulty.

Any ideas what this code means and how to fix it?

Hi everyone,

Worked out the solution to my problem. I had a gen 2 module that I had accidentally purchased. I thought I'd give it a try just in case as nothing else had worked so far. Surprisingly as soon as the new module went in the hands-free tailgate opening worked immediately.

So you're saying i can code enable a feature and work backwards to make sure the module is working (like black box testing)?

I code enable hands free tailgate and then find a module that works?
