Can I add Remote Start to my M340i after delivery?
I seemed to recall it was possible a while ago, I'm taking delivery soon and my dealer is telling me it's not possible currently to add it to a car ordered without it.
Anyone know definitively?

Yes I know it is possible because my G20 has remote start and my dads G30 didn't. He went to the local Bimmer dealership and they said it'd cost him $1500 to add it as an option after delivery.

Yikes... so they're charting 5x the price of remote start if someone wants to add it retroactively.

If they kept the pricing consistent before/after ordering then I can imagine everyone just ordering stock cars and then slowly adding all the upgrades/addons instead of forking out all the money upfront.

That's a very good point, but that's not the only thing. Retrofitting parts will naturally be more expensive since there's a lot of additional labor. And you're sourcing parts which have to be sourced/stocked and sold at a dealership. Of course, there's also the stealership markup.

I just looked at their site for feature coding and there's hardly any information there. Maybe it's the mobile version I was looking at?

Write directly to Alex and ask about remote start. If you look in the options inside the M340i tune, you can see remote start retrofit for 300$. On their Instagram page you can see a demonstration. |

I wasn't interested in remote start, I already have it, I was interested in other features but I didn't see them listed.

If you just need coding, they offer it to. On the website you can see the link for coding. https://missiontuning.com/bmw-remote...te-coding.html It's not listed which features you can code with them, you will need to ask them directly. |

Remote start with the keyfob was worth the $300 on the order to me. Remote start via the connected app is worth so much more. I love being able to start the car from my desk at work (no where near the vehicle) and have it warm and ready by the time I walk over there to get in.
Point being, if you get an aftermarket solution I would check if that feature is supported (if it matters to you). |
