330e M Sport vs. 530e M Sport

So - as you may have seen my 330e is in the garage for repair.
Got myself a brand new (150 miles on the clock) 530e M Sport+ as a hire car for a couple of weeks.

And whilst the interior is supremely well built, super quiet and mega comfortable - I definitely prefer my 330e. Some pics attached but initial things the 530e doesn’t have:

Apple CarPlay
Lane keep assist
Speed limit warning
Reversing assistant
Speed limit warning
Xtraboost

And a few other things.

THAT said - although petrol only fuel economy isn’t as good - the battery life is at least as good if not better than my 330e. I managed 28miles + on a single journey drive, very rarely would I achieve that on the 330e

Anyone else got any opinions?

I also prefer the interior of my 3 series - feels like this one is a halfway house till a new 5 series interior.

Conversely, I'd do anything to be able to pay the extra out of my own pocket to upgrade to a 530e over 330e.

I'm sure you can get Appleplay on the 530e these days - and yes, the interior is a step behind, because the 5 has just had its LCI update, so it's mid life now.

But having driven both a 530e and a 330e, I'd have no hesitation in choosing the 530e over a 330e given a chance.

No it hasn't. It's about to have its LCI and will be announced in the very near future in time for Geneva. The new digital cockpit was just an update unaligned with the LCI, which happens more and more now as the rate at which technology changes is too fast to wait until the mid-life of cars.

There has been a pretty major revamp, so I though that was LCI - it's got the new MHT 2.0d engine for a start.

Didn't realise there was an LCI to come on top of the tech and engine updates, as these things always used to happen together.

The electric drive train for the 3 was built from the ground up, whereas the current 5s is a little "bolt on" style , of that makes sense.

Expect the LCMs one to be much better in this regard

I tested both versions and I ordered a 330e M Sport.

Newer model, more power (xtraboost), Bmw Os7 (future upgrade to Android auto compatible) and I prefer the look of the 3 series more than the 5 series. Even in the interior, I prefer the infotainment screen in the dash instead of in the top like in the 5 series.

I have read the 5 series after the LCI will have the 45e setup over the 30e.

This will in theory have 50-60 miles of electric range and should be a big step up over the 30e that was in there!

Yep. It will be launched at Geneva next month, so the press release is imminent.

Battery is definitely better in this 530e - or at least the range is more accurate / realistic.
