I think the horrid BMW design chief thinks that if he starts with total hideous, then by toning it down a bit we will buy into it. I agree...it is not totally hideous here. Only mostly hideous.

Time will tell whether he is right or has driven BMW into the ground.

It's really ugly.

And not because of its kidneys. That is actually the best.

The way everything seems to point into the grille reminds me of Alfa Romeo's design.

It's the air intakes & lack of hood line. PLEASE BMW DO THIS!

Without the HOOD LINE, the NEW FRONT is somewhat acceptable!
Respectfully disagree on all this attention on the hood line.
The kidney grill is completely gone and replaced with trapezoid shape somewhat and no vertical slats. The iconic look is totally gone.

Not bad at all. I don't mind the grill tbh. But the hoffmeister kink (or the lack of it) bothers me. If I ever were to get this car it would be the M3 sedan or M4 convertible. I don't like soft tops but I'd rather have that than a BMW without the kink. F**k the Coupe and it's Audi/Volvo side profile.

I'm not sure we'll see the production 4 series, BMW just confirmed that they will show the i4 concept, which does not leave a lot of room for the regular 4 series: https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...:-a-first-look

Totally different car. The i3 was not a 3 series.

I think they meant that seeing the i4 won't leave much to the imagination for the 4er.

Right, or rather I think it's unlikely they will world premier both the i4 concept and the 4er production version, but will try to have a different event for the latter to shine (or not).

But by this time next week, we'll all know for sure.

I actually think they plan to reveal them pretty close. The leaked slide on upcoming BMW releases showed "start of communication" for the new 4 series to be 3/6. Also the i4 is to more or less share the 4 grancoupe body.
I think it would make perfect sense for the reveal to look like
1. Start of show presser/live reveal next week - i4 concept (official cat out of bag on grills and for those in the know a preview of the new grancoupe)
2. 3/6 or around that date - press release and official images of the new 4 series coupe. maybe some press pre-prod drives, youtube walk arounds, details on the 48v system possibly)
3. next auto show (believe it is NYC early april) - first public auto show appearance of the production 4 series
4. late april/early may order guides for the US should be available considering a july production start

Keep in mind, though, that this photo was taken at BMW Welt which is in Germany, Europe. So the date format is possibly dd/mm/yyyy instead of mm/dd/yyyy. So SoC could be set for June, rather than March.

Agree, Date on the slide is valid potential flaw, however the X5M/X6M launch date aligns roughly with the date in the us format. Above is my guess but still just speculation.

Hmmm.. don't know how I feel about it yet. Definitely something I have to grow into. Reminds me of the Alfa Romeo front

BMW are not attending the NYC Auto show.
Whereas current events have postponed the main China show for Beijing in April.
