Odd that it didn't appear on the same stretch of road the day before.

Maybe it's speed related

I prefer using 'Reduced Mode'. Far less noise and the fuel/temp gauge don't show, which is good - because they have no padding to the edge of the screen and look poor...

It's under the display settings for the cluster - tick box for 'reduced mode'. If you want to see fuel or the fully marked up speedo, you just tap the button on the left stalk to cycle...and after a few seconds, it all disappears again. Much cleaner IMO.

Thanks. I thought I hadn't seen this option before, and sure enough, just had a look in my X5 and it's not available to me. Maybe my software is out of date.

Do you need HUD to run reduced mode?

Bumping this because just took daughter car in for service yesterday and the loaner car add this feature, 2020 330i. The loaner car was on software 3/2020 and didn't have HUD. They updated my daughter car to 7/2020 and she still doesn't have the option. Her car is 2019 330i with HUD. Curious if it really software based or really based on hardware and model year?

I had my car updated last week from 07/2019.30 to 07/2020.48 and the reduced mode is still available. I think there was a different thread where we tried to pin point what gives you that option but there was no definite answer in the end. I'm curious myself.

I have it in my August '19 build 320i with DAP option and no HUD.

Reduced mode can be coded in with BimmerCode. I did it tonight on my ‘19 X5 50i.

I'm not coding mine anymore since BMW have decided to go gung ho and invalidate any warranty based on coding.
