M340i: HUD sport display shift lights gone after 11/2019.4 update
So I just discovered this recently. The shift point lights, which are hugely beneficial to timing shifts, are gone after the latest firmware and not sure how to get them back.
I've gone into my menus and verified that the option "Sports Displays" is enabled. Has anyone experienced this and know how to fix it? The sports display still works, it shows the rev meter, but the shift lights no longer appear when you approach max RPM. I was bouncing off the rev limiter this morning trying to make it work, got frustrated, so now posting here. |

Car > Settings > Displays > Head-up display > Sport display - always on. Shifter in M/S and use the paddles/shifter to shift in Manual mode. As the car nears the red line, the shift lights pop up on the HUD.

In sport/Sport+ there used to be with original 3/2019 firmware I had. When you were in sport/sport+ mode and you have sport display enabled, you will get a rev gauge and then right above it, you will get a shift light that lets you know when to shift. I don't run manual mode that often because the automatic transmission shift logic is so good, but every now and then I like to play around with it and I miss this feature dearly.

Problem Solved: The vertical height adjustment of the HUD was set too high and the top edge of the HUD was hidden/obscured. Because the shift indicator light is located at the very top edge, it will not be visible if the HUD is adjusted too high.
I was driving like a hooligan taking it to redline over and over trying to figure it out and was almost ready to do a factory reset... haha. Carry on, nothing to see here. |

Wow, sure am glad I read this thread!
My M340 is first automatic I've had since our station wagon phase. Have been working on using the paddles & am almost comfortable. The big thing I still had to work through was when to shift because the car handles so effortlessly. Though I have the horizontal tach in the HUD, I never noticed the the redline at the top of HUD -- until now! Thanks!

Similar issue here, sure I have seen other threads on this as well. I have a 20 plate UK G20 330e. Since the last update I can see the sport gauge if I set it to always on, but if you set it to Sport mode only it no longer appears when switching into sport mode. Changing the height of the HUD makes no difference.

Hi,
For this, you need to code to fix the issue. Quote:
