Im pretty sure once it's had the bench unlock, it's just a matter of going back to your dinan dealer for a refresh, don't have to mail the dme in again.

Not sure that is true, mine was bench unlocked by Mission and if I do an OTA update I would have to send it back to them to bench unlock again or find someone local to bench unlock it and I doubt it’s free. A bench unlock by Mission or a local place is around $200.

That is true for all flash tunes. Any OTA/In-service update will override, reflash and lock the DME necessitating a new bench-load to unlock and reflash to your preferred aftermarket tune. I tested this out recently for a slew of reasons not worth mentioning here… but I will say that if you check the boxes to allow OTA updates, it will most certainly reflash you back to stock. The reduction in power is real and very noticeable. And I hadn’t checked if there really was an update prior to noticing the change in output. Then I went in and checked. Got the 3/21 OTA update. That’s how I knew for sure it wasn’t just in my head. 22hp on the 91 flash may not seem like much but it’s actually quite a bit. That was my science experiment. It’s confirmed. Take my advice. Put a small tag on you engine cover that says no reflashing during service due to a tune and ensure your OTA update checkboxes remain unchecked. Or it’s $200 extra plus shipping to have it bench loaded again.

Just had Carbahn tune on my Z4 M40i . Wow what power!! 471 Hp 509 Torque. So fast! Imagine that in a car thats 500lbs lighter than M440i.
Love taking on those muscle cars at a light. They can't catch me. They always looked surprised. Especially those loud Mopars. They are way to heavy. Cost 1700 with exhaust feature. Installed at BMW dealer. No remote start though.

Does the tune show the correct power and torque on the screen after a remap or is it still the old numbers showing?

Yep! I’d post a picture but shit doesn’t work right on this phone. But yes. The hp/tq bars are adjusted.

Congrats! Did you pull your DME and send it in or were you able to drive to them locally and have it done? They were super fast with flashing and overnighting my DME back to me. It was crazy. Car was only down for about 48 hours in total. Sucks they haven’t gotten the remote start issue figured out yet either. I wonder if that’s something we’re just going to have to live with. Dinan is in the same boat. Seems like too much crap is integrated into the remote start feature to save it. I’m going to wait until summer is over here in the desert southwest before I have it flashed back to the tune again. I figured I’ll just get all the updates and security patches I can out of BMW until then and shut off OTA permanently.

Yea i drove to Thompson BMW in Doylestown PA. (3 Hr trip).They Benched the DME there. I live in Long Island NY. Spent the night in Philly. They gave me a loaner car. 24 hr turnaround.

Is it possible to get an extended warranty with either carbahn or dinan? If not with the tune, can you have it flashed back to stock and then be eligible?

CarBahn offers a factory matching warranty for extra cost. I believe Dinan does as well but I can't confirm as I have CarBahn

Ya, for the original warranty, but I assume if you wish to get an extended warranty past the original 4 years then your out of luck, correct?

Was your car built before June of 2020? You probably have the older version.

Wait… hold up. You went to an actual BMW dealer and they were able to bench load it there? They didn’t send it to Carbahn? They’re actually able to do that?
