I have a recently purchased 330i, had it for about 2 weeks now.
It's a 7/2019 build, and it has 03/2019.70 software on it. I've tried doing the Remote Software Upgrade in the Settings menu on iDrive in vehicle numerous times, and it always says "No Upgrade Available". The vehicle is connected to the internet, as I am getting weather and news widgets in the Apps menu. I've also looked at the "Remote Software Upgrade" option in the Connected Drive app on iPhone, it also shows "No Upgrade Available." I'm getting some dropouts of Carplay and Connected Drive Remote Services on iPhone is extremely sporadic. It hasn't reported since yesterday afternoon, and has failed numerous "Ventilate Now" commands (although it was working previously), and Remote 3D view has never worked. How can I get 11/2019 or the 3/2020 software installed? I really was hoping to get it updated remotely if possible and avoid a trip to the dealer. |

Ive never had a notification for a software update, but that's probably because I have asked the dealer to do the upgrades. I am now waiting for the 07.2020 release with Android Auto, as I have an Android phone. So I would suggest that you ask your dealer to do it..and explain that you want it done because of stability problems with the Connected Drive App. I've found that the Connected Drive App has become much more stable with each Car upgrade, and also with each App upgrade. (I have an Android phone). I haven't had a Remote services failure from the App now for 3 months or more..it works perfectly. I've found the best way to overcome any Remote Services problems with the App, such as unlock, ventilate or Remote 360 view is to do the following: First, make sure that all of the Apps in your car are updated. ( by Settings, Apps, Installed Apps, Option, Update apps and services) Then delete the car from your garage in the Phone App, and then delete the App from your phone.. Wait 15 mins or so, then from a laptop or tablet, add your car back into your account using the Connected Drive Web portal. Then reinstall the App on your phone, and log into your account. The car will then appear in your "garage" The dealer suggested that method to me when I was having some Remote 360 view problems, and everything always functioned OK if I follow that procedure. |
