As a strong critic of the large, vertical grille design, I have changed my mind. This car absolute needs a bold attention-grabbing grill because it is pretty bland and generic in terms of deign otherwise. Others have mentioned the similarities in shapes and proportion to other vehicles, so I won't go there, but I will point out a few details that have me scratching my head.
The car looks very bulky and tall overall, F32 has a lower and more hunkered-down, athletic aesthetic quality. The side character line is barely defined and very low on the door. This leads into the rear quarter where several lines have a stacking effect that makes the rear end area appear very tall. This plays into the vertical theme of the grille but clashses with the horizontal themes of the head & tail lamps. Also - Pep boys canards anyone? (Sorry, I meant "M-Performance") Again, stacking effect. Too many horizontal lines adds height visually. The positioning of tail lamps (outwards and as high as possible) only further emphasize the height. Also, the cut line for the side skirt is very close to the character line and accentuates the panel gap. |

I'm warming up to the new grille. but wish I didn't have to warm up to it, and just loved it out the box. Its absolutely a case of doing shit for the sake of doing it without stopping to ask if it was really needed. |

Questions:
m sport differential - is this an LSD? Is it equivalent to the LSDs that are on M cars? Display: Standard displays 8.8 inch center touchscreen control display with 5.1 inch color display between the instrument gauges. Optional Live Cockpit Professional upgrades the displays to a 10.25 inch center touchscreen control display and a fully digital 12.3 inch instrument display. Does this mean that standard will not be full LCD and will have needle instrument gauges? I am not a fan of the backwards tachometer. Any word of if the LCD display will have a user setting for normal tachometer ie a sport mode? |

This is the base gauge setup on the G20, and its arguably the best setup. It has a smaller display at the bottom and LED backlit analogue gauges. Sadly if you want any safety tech, it isn't compatible and you are forced to upgrade to the inferior all digital gauges. As of now, BMW despite claiming to be one of the most tech forward automotive brands, has yet to give us any useful customization of the digital gauges.

Looking pretty stunning, like the work. Maybe the only problem with this is that it is largely similar to F3X and G20 styling, too much more of the same. That being said. what you have here is great looking, looking like a lean and mean James Bond coupe. I have always liked the look of sedans more than coupe's for BMW anyway, so I would not be a potential buyer here for the 4. Seems like they may not be going this direction with the 3 series.

The front has Alfa cues, profile looks like a G35, and rear is Lexus all the way. BMW has definitely gone far off the trail since the early 2000's. This new design trend is absurd and uninspired. The suspension has been softened, it weighs more than ever, more things nickel and dimed into packages and add-ons, and the price has never been higher.
You can pretend all day this car is worth the money, but the American and Asian competition really puts this into perspective. You're buying a badge more than anything these days. Please don't insult anyone here by saying the Germans make better cars, because the failure rates in the industry really tell otherwise - Porsche being the only real outlier. If you want real reliability, go Lexus. If you want legit performance for the money, go American. If you want a badge from some Euro company, I guess by BMW? |

Maybe if I see it in person I might change my opinion but based on pictures I can't really see myself opening the door to the garage, look at it and have a smile every time (the way I have with my G20)

Lets face it, whether you like it or not I think it is safe to say that BMW could have done MUCH better.

I kinda don't blame BMW... this is like their last hurrah with increasing grill size...10 years from now we'll be bitching about how they're almost non-existent/gone all together. Won't be any use for them when they're all electric 🙁
*** But doesn't mean I like the look of the new grills, just saying there won't be much of a point to go bigger when electric is being introduced.

Just because there won't be any use for them doesn't mean they won't exist, just look at an i4 Concept, Mustang Mach-E, Jag I-Pace, Kona or Niro electric cars. All have fake grills.
