Look again at the engine column in the EPA application excerpt. The EPA does not police badging.

Let me clarify with a collection of facts because people will read that short statement in every which way they like.

December 2022 release is for M2 base.
M2 base will not have a Competition option.
A separate M2 Competition model is in the plans.
It is not coming at the same time as M2 base.
My estimate of the probability of M2 Comp trailing M2 base by a year or more - 95%.
My estimate of the probability of M2 Comp being an LCI model (early 2025) - 70%.

I could have simply said "BMW is marketing G87 M2 same way they did F87 M2"...

I'm seeing the S58. What am I missing?

Seems that way! Thank you for the info.

I assume they've produced a few more of these cars now. Have you seen any new exterior/interior options?

The M3/4 can cause confusion with the engine designation in that list and what the meaning is for EPA summary documentation.

S58B30T0 = AT
S58B30O0 = MT

What it doesn't represent is power rating or drive type (RWD/AWD)

My impression was T0 for both M2 transmissions and badging unclear.

This is specific (at the moment) to the S58.

F87 only had Manual Transmissions; one Automated, one Meat.

Trying to rationalize the nuances of Emissions Certification Documentation is one of the most masochist endeavors in existence.

Not again. Seriously?

Well I’m not making the same mistake again.

I hope the Comp comes in the 50th anniversary year.

Both manual and automatic G87s have S58T. The difference is only in the choice of 2MA vs 2TB.

I posted some of them in a different thread somewhere. Didn't keep that list anywhere else.

50th anniversary will last only 4 months into the production of the base G87. There will be no 50th Comp.

When the comp is released, will it be available in manual? That will decide whether I move forward with g87 base on release or wait til comp since I want the most powerful manual version available.

If I'm right with my time estimates, the earliest I'll be able to know the details of Comp will be mid-2023.

Does that confirm the base model will get 455hp as stated on the first page of this thread? If so that's great news and I'm even more excited to see what the Competition model gets.

Is there a link to this EPA document for G87 (or has someone downloaded it)? The first attachment here has gone.
