216119 starter motor actuation
On August 10th I took my 2021 m340 to the dealer because it failed to turn on with remote start a few times then got a check engine light. Luckily my warranty expired aug29th. Once at the dealer they swapped the battery as I was low voltage per dealer.
The issue occurred again 2 weeks later and dealer agreed to diagnose and cover as the warranty was still valid for a few more days. They replaced a fuel vent valve which seemed odd to me and unrelated to my issue. 2 weeks later the same issue occurs however this time I took it to my trusted shop since it was out of warranty. I was informed about the fault code and that my starter needed replacement and was encouraged to take it to the dealer as this was a preexisting issue and should cover it. At the dealer for the 3rd time but at first did not want to look at the car then finally convinced them to take a look got the same fault code as my shop tested the starter and connectors stating they were all within spec. They advised for a pin drag test for further diagnosis but would be charged as I am out of warranty. I called BMW NA expressed my concerns and a case was opened. They got back to me informing me that if further diagnosis resulted in a preexisting issue then BMW would cover the fee of repair and diagnosis. Today oct 6th my car failed to start once leading me to believe it is the starter even though the dealer said the starter was fine. Has anyone else experienced this issue before? What would you suggest I do regarding the dealer and case situation? If starter needs replacement any helpful videos for diy? |

Had the exact same issue. New battery didn't fix it. Replaced the starter and it's been running perfect for 3 months straight. Shoot me a dm if you got any questions.
