Installed the new 245/35 19” Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires.
Fitment is fine. Plenty of wheel clearance to the strut. First impressions - damn what a difference! The ride is firmer than with the pirelli run flats. These things got some stiff sidewalls. Bumps feel much sharper. No change in road noise. So much more grip and feedback now! Definitely not a luxury ride but much more sporty now. These tires are also much heavier then the pirelli so gas mileage will probably suffer a bit.

Depends what you’re looking for. I wanted more grip, more fun and more feedback. That’s what I got. Why get a sports car without the sport? I didn’t buy a M340i to roll around town looking cool. I bought a car to enjoy driving.
If I wanted a comfy ride and gas mileage, I would have kept the stock Pirelli. They’re brand new still and nothing wrong with them for every day driving.

Are you planning to modify your suspension with springs or coilovers in the future?

In comparison, the Potenza Sport rides stiffer and offers more feedback. It feels direct without the slight delay PS4S has. If you read the reviews for it online, it is falls in line with what they say. Dry and wet performance will favor the Sport over the PS4S. That responsive handling results in a stiffer ride over bumps but it's not harsh. The trade off being the Sport is heavier and wears faster than the 300 treadwear would normally indicate. I think something similar would be the Yokohama Advan V601. I had those on my 328i daily before I traded it in. The V601 is even less refined in ride and more road noise over PS4S or the Bridgestones. But they are super direct feeling with stiff sidewalls - if you want your car to feel like a nimble sports car this is what you want. The Potenza Sport is in a place between the PS4S and the Yokohama V601. The other max perfomance tire I had a few years ago was the Pirelli P-Zero PZ4. That tire is more refined, quiet, soft and comfortable than the PS4S... it feels more like a touring tire than a performance tire. It has good grip but little feedback. All these tires trade blows depending on what you're looking for. PS4S is balanced if you want something to drive every day with good performance. The Potenza Sport, V601 are sportier feeling and the PZ4 more comfortable than the PS4S. I am probably not going to change the suspension. I have the adaptive suspension and it is fine for every day driving. I already have a modded M3 weekend car. Coilovers, camber plates, spherical bushings, solid metal to replace rubber bushings... it's got it. It's harsh to drive on the street and offers no apologies. I don't want to turn my comfortable daily into another track monster. haha

I had 245/40/19 before on 791M 8” wide wheels and had no rubbing with 12mm front spacers.

Sorry if this question has already been ask in advance. I have a 2021 M340X that I purchased last year from a friend. I just assumed tires where staggered but it they are not. It came with 19" light-all.wh.dbl.spk.791M AS em.op. Car has 17K miles with original all seasons miles on it now and looking to replace tires with non flats and stagger. My question is are the rear wheels bigger and just running smaller tires because of all seasons or are all the wheels same size meaning I would need to purchased to new rear wheels that would be 8.5's? Thanks for any help!

So here is the issue I had with my M340i. I had the stock 225/40/19 RF that came with my 2020 model. I put on PS4S 245/40/19 on and immediately heard a noise when I turned right at speed (50mph+). I thought it was just the tires bedding in or something but my wife immediately heard it too. I took it back to NTB and they think the tire is flexing and rubbing on the strut. They showed me the clearance and it's like 5mm. The passenger side front is like 7mm and does not rub. My question is do I get spacers or go down to 245/35/19 tires up front. Also, can I bend the strut plate a bit and call it a day? I'll post a pic shortly.

Plenty of brands of spacers available. Macht Schnell, H&R, Dinan, Turner, etc.

My wife's 2021 330ix came with Bridgestone 225/40 R 19 XL tires on the BMW 19" rims. She doesn't drive aggressively, and now has about 21,000 miles. The tires still have some wear left, but I'm close to wanting to change them out with All-season Non run-flat tires, and probably want to just stay with stock tire sizing on the existing rims.
I see that the M-sport setup was for 255/35 R19 on the rear, but I assume that set-up is for wider rims - so would that be an option with my current rims? With the non-run flats, is that that much difference in the all-season "performance" tires - between the major brands like Bridgestone, Pirelli, Michelin, etc?

Technically you could fit a 255 width tire on a 8” wheel, if that’s what you have, although I personally wouldn’t recommend it due to tire slip/flex during cornering. If your car is equipped with 225 width on front and rear, more likely you have 8” wheel all around. In regard to performance differences between the brands, you have to compare apples to apples between the tire make and model. There are discernible differences when comparing. Some have better wet performance vs dry, and vice versa. Also consider ordering a tire with BMW star if available.

This size is way too tall with the limited front strut clearance. You're adding 1/2 inch more tire sidewall going from 225/40 to 245/40. Spacers can probably fix the issue. 245/35 would fit fine without any modifications.

Hey all- very much a beginner to all this information and have a couple questions after reading through the thread:
I purchased a 2024 M340i Xdrive with the 19x8 square setup. I think i understand that the max tire size options for this setup are 235/35/19 or 235/40/19 or lastly 245/35/19? Costs aside, if I wanted a staggered setup, I would need to purchase two 8.5” rims, is that correct? And if so, would I run into speedometer or xdrive issues? Apologies if this has been asked before throughout the thread- Being new to this info and seeing these same numbers over and over is throwing me off lol. Cheers and thanks in advance |
