I think you might have found a picture with the new/partial B3 in disguise!
The plates are from where they produce Alpinas , fairly likely they take the B58 from the M340i and upgrade it significantly.
So this car could have the upgrade engine for testing.

I'm not very impressed by the brakes of the M340. I think it's a step backwards from the M Sport Brake Option for the F30 335/340i which was a 370mm 4 piston front and 345mm 2 piston rear setup.

Not a fan of a number of the design features. Front grille, too Lexus-like. Rear end, too Audi/Acura-like. The headlights, WTF are those? Dash instrumentation looks like a failed Star Trek experiment. Too many things are un-BMW like.

The performance, on the other hand, is a home run.

The engine spec says 382 HP at 5,000 rpm. At that specific rpm - 5,000 - in order to make 382 HP, you must be making 400 ft-lb or torque. You cannot SIMULTANEOUSLY make 382 HP at 5,000 rpm and not make 400 ft-lb of torque at 5,000 rpm.

I'll use my F80 M3 as an example. Engine specs - 425 HP @ 5500-7300 rpm, 406 ft-lb @ 1850 - 5500 rpm. Take 5,500 rpm since we have the values at that rpm for both torque and HP. Plug in 406 and 5500 and voila you get 425 HP.
You're absolutely right on this one! It's actually even worse, since the Tq drops beyond 4500rpm! Somebody mixed up the figureware in Germany.

I know!! BMW Audi Merc all eliminate fixed 2 pistons caliper for the rear in order to get electronic parking brake for less money(except for Audi R8 of course, not even AMG GTR). Cut cost!! If you want fixed caliper for the rear and also electronic parking brake, u need to have 2 calipers. One normal rear brake one mini parking caliper, like Tesla model S and X, Alfa Giulia QV, Most supercars. It costs more to get 2 calipers when u can make it work using only one, and shitty looking floating caliper. It is all about the cost. I don't know how Porsche and Corvette accomplish this with only 1 fixed rear caliper, maybe a electronic drum brake for parking?? But it costs more too. BBA (Bmw,Benz,Audi) are too damn cheap.

Help achieve some weight reduction goal?

We haven't seen the complete options list so possibly there is another more hardcore "track pack" option coming.

Or (and probably most likely) they are just better brakes and can achieve the same performance targets for less weight and cost. Track driving reviews of the M340 xdrive were very positive about the brakes so sounds like early indication is they are the right choice

My dealer just informed me that in Belgium they can give a quote for the M340i as of May and the online configurator will probably be updated around that period to include the 330e and the M340i. He could not say anything (yet) about the pricing. I am going to wait for the final details of the M340i before placing an order for the 330i.

The headlights are actually a mix of G30 and E46 it seems like. Absolutely beautiful to me.
