Unreal fuel economy! 65 MPG 170 mile trip

I do not normally post in forums both I thought I would as I was so pleasantly surprised by how economical it is but also to show everyone it is possible!

I was driving in comfort, a mixture of driving, motorway, A and B roads, traffic and city, also partially through the hilly wolds with some spiritual driving at times, but generally careful normal driving.

In my first month of ownership of it, just as economical as my previous f20 320d. An unreal bit of kit from BMW.

To confirm fuel values are from fillup.

What’s everyone else getting out of interest?

My motorway runs are between 125 and 200 mile each way though so probably why I'm so good economy.

Going from ooop north to the south always has better MPG because it’s down hill.

I'm getting 50mpg average from my 330i. Seeing ~40mpg around town and +50mpg on longer drives. I have seen 62mpg a regular 80 mile trip but usually high 50's. All in EcoPro. Comfort looses but 2-3mpg.

47 is unbelievable from an M340i. The previous posts are from diesels. Were you in eco mode the whole time? I average 30mpg in my m340i on freeways

UK forum so we're talking "imperial" gallons here which have about 1.2 times more volume than the US gallon.

I don't really trust the BMW figures. I did a ~200 mile journey last week in my 420d and the car reckoned the economy was 69.2mpg whilst the My BMW app claims I got 72.2mpg ... all whilst I averaged just under 60mph in rush hour traffic.

My maths isn't brilliant but even I can work out that doing 199 miles using 3.3 gallons of diesel is more like 60mpg.

It's that downhill I wonder. Gotta do both ways to eliminate gravity and wind.

It was 400 miles of motorway at the speed limit. I was amazed. It was in eco mode, yes.

It doesn't seem to be much less efficient then my 530d was.

I commute up and down the motorway in my M340d. I regularly see high 60’s low 70’s.

Blimey - a post about 340d fuel economy and the word "witchcraft" has not been used. Well at least, not yet.

I actually averaged higher on the way back, a lot of 50 mph cruising on a17! A different route back, but as someone mentioned, it could also be downhill!

I don’t drive around thinking about a fuel economy otherwise I wouldn’t have got the 3 litre but just blowed my mind.

I never use eco as it’s feels horrible and for the pence it’s potential saving, it sacrificing the feel and comfort of what makes this car so good.
