Does anyone know if BMW have cured the disintegrating oil filter issue, and if so how and when was it fixed?

Encouraging that noboby on here seems to have had any issues with this.

Further Web searches have shown it's pretty much a matter of luck whether or not the filter breaks apart when it's changed. I am surprised that BMW don't seem to have addressed the problem by now.

sjb993 is this an issue with the filter element itself? Makes it even more tempting to use after market parts / specialist independent for servicing!

The videos show that the problem is due to way the filters are assembled and also that some after market brands are worse than OEM.

I don’t have empirical proof but I personally think a more frequent oil change schedule also helps prevent the filter disintegration issue. I did an initial change at 1600 miles and plan to do every 5000 miles from here on out.

i was checking out the M5 competition oil change period in my country.

2 years, 20,000 miles.

yup.

note to self: don't buy 2nd hand BMWs here ...
