Question

This is the first time I use a high to low level converter with car speaker signal.
I don't know anything other than 4 volt RCA line out and the Alpine ai-net. My pet peeve is the noise, hissing, whistling and other frying noises in the sound.

Please, let me know how does the Match UP10, 7 or any else sound with the PP-BMW 1.9RAM-HK or any analogical wiring harness at 75 percent power?

So, am I correct that my shopping list includes:

* MatchUp 7 DSP amp
* BMW RAM harness
* Analog module for the amp

Anything else? Do I need to buy power cables or fuses separately?
If i buy the 8dsp do i need the analog module for a hifi system?

Thanks

The RAM cannot be removed because that is where the radio tuners are located.

What about the match up8dsp? What’s the difference between that and match up 7 ?

I’ve heard many people with the 2020 and 340 opt for the match up 8DSP plus SWS8xi subwoofer

Anyone have an issue with “no source available” in i drive 7?
I installed it and verified power to the plug going into the match 8 dsp (oddly im getting close to 14 volts from the battery?)
G26 m440i
Rebooting radio by holding volume did not fix it

Interesting. I disconnected the battery and the car idrive stayed on for quite a while. M440i has a hybrid battery or is there some long term capacitor or battery somewhere else?

Mounted the match in my g26. There are two located where plastic is held down by a screw. I used two metal pieces to hold the amp using those screws. You can see them to the left and right of the amp.

Looks good.

Did you manage to suppress the louder indicator sound?

It would be great if you would share updates once you get the time to work on this and the sound profiles. Thanks in advance.

I have plug-n-play Eton mid/tweets all around and Focals for the underseat woofers. Happy with all of them.

Focal subs don't go too deep, but are very very precise and controlled. Great for natural instruments. If you're getting the sub, then it's gonna blend great with the sub cause you only need precision and the kick from them and sub will cover the lowest part of the frequency range.

I'm running match up 7 plugged into OEM HiFi system. (Replaced my OEM HiFi analog amp without RAM unit as my car is 2019 and came with the iDrive 6 without RAM).

Not sure why but im using the same subwoofers from my e93 m3 in my m440i
In my m3 they were wired in parallel to an amp 300 watts RMS x1 @1 ohm.
In my m440i they are wired in seprate channels (ala the ram harness) 160 RMS x 2 @ 2 ohm
Bass is really weak even with comparable power numbers. Am i missing something in the match config?

I’m curious, with this AMP installed, are the Gongs, PDC sounds, etc amplified as well?

Hello,

I acquired a MATCH UP10DSP and an HK harness to install in the G21, and have a few questions:

1. Does anybody have a configuration file to share (even if it's for G20?) as the basic file from the audiotec is completely vanilla?

2. The center channel was awful in HK so I deactivated it. Did you keep the center with the MATCH or the sound stage is better without it?

3. What is your config for the Input Gain: 11V on speakers and 32V for subs?

Many thanks for your help,
AM

I can only comment on the Center channel with AC Fischer. You definitely must enable center speaker as the DSP relies on the center channel to be enabled, and ACFischer's DSP has a very good "true center" channel processing which can, together with other adjustments, produce almost perfect soundstage in front of you.
When I adjusted everything in my G20, vocal was crystal clear and straight in front of me. The whole sound stage was perfect when delays for all front speakers are adjusted in the DSP.

I am attaching DSP setup file for G20, with MatchUp 7 installed on HiFi system.

Regardless of the fact that this is a 7 channel setup, you can use my file to look at settings for time delays and center speaker processing
as these settings are the same for HK and HiFi and will produce a good front sound stage.

Bare in mind that my car is running ETON speakers all around, and FOCAL underseat woofers so equalizer settings will probably vary from EQ settings needed to bring out the best sound from HarmanKardon speakers.

Calamari, thanks for your advice! I'll use your file as the starting point with the center activated!

In the meantime, I received a reply from AF regarding #3 (applied for the HK config): indeed, the physical jumper must be set in the "high" position, and the Input Gain shall be 11V for the speakers and 32V for the subs.

I picked up a PP 86DSP and a technic harness. Do I just ignore the 12v wire in the harness and connect 6awg from battery to 12v instead? I believe harness is for the match up7 but is still usable for the pp86. I’m just a little confused. Not sure how bimemrtech can magically make the same amp work with a 20amp 12v line from oem harness.

Also do I need to disconnect center channel? 676 hifi

The PP86DSP installation manual explicitly states that the amp 12V terminal must be connected to the battery.

Hello,

There is quite a number of amplifier installation video for the sedan (G20) but I didn't manage to find one for the wagon (G21). So I'd like to share how I installed the amplifier in case it can be helpful for anybody.
  • I removed the left plastic bin in the trunk to install the amplifier parallel to the original HK amplifier.
  • I used the bolts of the bin to hold the installation plate and additional aluminum plates to fix the amplifier on top. It required to replace the HK mount bolt with a bit longer.
  • In the car width axis, I tried to give the maximum room between the amplifiers to promote cooling down, but at the same time avoid touching the luggage curtain bar.
  • In the car length axis, I tried to position it maximally upfront to allow easy access to the USB port and the setup button, keeping enough room for the wires on the other side.
  • Used quite a lot of wire tape, plastic fasteners, and acoustic foam to fix the wires and make sure that there is no noise from loose cables or plastic rubbing.

Very very useful post for me as I am currently waiting for delivery of a G21 330d touring with Harman Kardon.

It seems that you positioned it well and secure.

What are the first impressions? How does it sound compared with HK?

Is the indicator clicker sound too loud? Engine sound (ASD) - Is that louder now?

Did you get the chance to play around with the configurations?
