Turns out I have been trying to plug into the wrong thing. On the G05 with the HK it looks like there is the RAM and then the HK amp or booster. I have been trying to plug the harness into the amp/booster. But now I have no idea where the RAM unit is. Can anyone share? Do I need to take the side panels off? Only the amp is visible from the little access door in the truck. Many thanks.

You need to replace the UP-7BMW with the new UP 10DSP with the PP-BMW 1.9RAM-HK harness and then you can use it in your HK(688). |

Encanto Well, it worked. Sorta. Found the RAM unit hiding behind the HK amp. FYI I have the 7DSP not the 7BMW. So connector to the RAM works just fine. The thing that is missing a connection to the 7DSP is the subs under the seat. The subs are still connected to the HK amp which you can leave plugged in. Just cannot control the underseat subs via the 7DSP. I could hard wire the subs up to the 7DSP. But now that I know there is a new model out I'm torn. I hate sending things back lol. Plus the new model doesn't seem to be readily available. Decisions, decisions...

I still got some oldschool stuff on the shelf: Boston SPG-555 sub that I can pair with a DLS A6 or matching PG Ti800/basscube Ti/powercore 15 Ti. |

If you're into deep bass, there are other underseat subs that go deeper but are less precise than Focals. Last edited by Calamari; 08-05-2021 at 02:49 PM.. |

Given the scarcity of the H/K system from BMW at the moment, I am considering ordering a G20 with the standard US HiFi system and swapping the amp for the Match 7BMW.
Do you lose any factory functionality with this setup, like wireless Carplay/Android auto? Thanks in advance. |

I would do this anyway, better flexibility moving forward and I reckon it sounds better too. The HK system is not that much of an upgrade, as shown by the relatively small price increase and then it includes extra speakers... the quality improvement isn't as much as people assume as the 'premium' pack.

I've read of certain factory sounds like ASD and turn signal being amplified to a higher than desired volume? Is the solution to code ASD off (though I'm not sure if the 330e even has ASD)? How about the turn signal sound? Thanks in advance. |

Mine was all much louder on initial install, but the tuner did something (not sure what) that reduced it to bearable levels. Still louder though. I suspect the 330e has ASD, you can probably tell if you hear a distinctly different exhaust tone when you go to sports mode.
It's probably able to be checked with your VIN on somewhere like here too https://www.mdecoder.com/ |

I believe Bimmertech folks will tune the amp based upon your needs... |

I have the Match amp (by Audiotec Fischer), but aren't the bimmertech amps made by Audiotec Fischer as well? I'm not sure what the actual difference between the actual amps are though. I imagine they are fairly similar, with maybe the Match being a bit newer technology as I think it's the same bimmertech amp for the last little while.
The Match amp isn't super complicated and there are people sharing their tunes as a good start point. As long as you have a laptop you can give it a good crack. I believe bimmertech only have a few tunes, original speakers or one of their speaker setups. Plus there is at least one tune for match amp on their site too. So I imagine it's a bit similar in that regard. Last edited by AustraliaG20; 08-16-2021 at 06:00 AM.. |

Reduce the level of the gongs and PDC in the iDrive menu first then play with the 31-band EQ and channel gain levels in the DSP. That will make the gongs and PDC levels acceptable while the audio improves.
Match has tuning files for BMW that you can download from their site and load into the DSP, start with those as the baseline to adjust if you do not understand DSP tuning. |
