Removing/replacing bumper side trim tips plz

Hi all,

I’m planning to replace the front ‘side’ trim (cerium grey) on my M340 with gloss black.

I’ve watched this video on YouTube -
which helped to a degree but I just can’t get the wretched things off. I’ve got all the trim tools etc and I can free two of the clips.

Going to have another go again tomorrow and try and have some more patience!

Any tips appreciated!

Thanks

I had the same problem couldn't get to the inside clips so I cut them off with a pair of wire snips

How did you cut them off, by putting the wire snips round the back and trying to cut from there?

Ta, just got one side off although I broke two clips on the trim piece - that's fine. But I broke one of the actual clips that hold it in place. Thankfully it's only a small one and I've glued it so I think it should stay on just fine - fingers crossed!

Ok so I cut the other side off. Was still a bit of a pain but easier.

However frustratingly this time I made a mark on the surround as my wire cutters slipped

Please tell me I'm being OCD - see the photo below of the mark in question. I had some touch paint spare so I touched it up and tried to blend it in. I'm trying to tell myself that that area will end up stone chipped anyway at some point and the car is a year old now.

Is there a way to get that mark filled and smoothed without too much effort?

Has anyone done this same swap out on an M440i (G22)? If so, do you know of any video tutorials? Do the new trim parts just pop in and did you insert the interior or exterior parts first? These trim pieces are harder to remove than the M340i trim due to the shape and having more clips
