DashCam recommendation

Hello.

I'm in the market to purchase a dashcam for my BMW G20 2019. I've never owned one before and i was wondering what people have and recommend.

Some of the features i would like is for it to be front and rear cams (good quality day and night) and to be able to record when in part mode ( very important after someone did a hit and run on the rear end)

I would also like it to fit well into my car and not bulging out on the screen, if that makes sense.

Thank you in advance.

There are a couple threads in existence dating back to 2019 so I would first recommend to use the search function. I also am considering adding a dash cam eventually so that’s where I found a few really great examples of what others have used with success.

I have a 2023 G20 330e saloon, I’d never had a dash cam before but with the ever increasing idiots around it was time.

I have a fitcamx which replaces the mirror housing and has no wiring (it uses the windscreen rain sensor feed) and you can’t see it’s there. You can’t see it from the driving seat..
I had some fitting issues but a local auto electric outfit sorted the issue in 15 mins.

4k, superb quality and it just works. The only problem has been the 2 occasions I have uploaded some utterly stupid road rage episodes to the police, has been my bad language.

You buy via Amazon uk, ensure you take a photo of the mirror housing and send to them. They actually sent me the wrong one but the customer service was unbelievable and the problem was rectified in lightening speed.

I have only front, they do rear but like an iPhone, it just works

Couldn’t recommend strongly enough..

Shame the fitcamx doesn’t have a parking mode (I think?).

I have a Thinkware T700 with Cellink battery. Already paid for itself when someone reversed into me whilst parked! It's internet connected so got alerted within seconds.

I'm getting the BMW Advance Car Eye 3.0 PRO fitted the end of August..

Main reasons being 1. I like the design, 2. The dealer cocked up on price but he is doing it for what they said, plus 3. It is "plug and play" so they dont have to splice wiring

I'd recommend the Garmin Mini if you want a small cam that won't get in the way. The app is great too.

And, in parking mode, it doesn't cause the battery drain problem some users have reported with other dashcams.

xDrive320D, if you want to view the videos on Mac or PC you can download Thinkware's Dashcam Viewer. It's pretty good.

Fitcamx here as well for front and rear. Fitted myself, which is a fiddle but can be done.
Works well

I have a Viofo A229 front and rear dash cam, works wonders! A few other people of this forum has the same setup and someone wrote an installation guide on here too.

Ya I think it is a rebadged fitcamx but its cheaper so might as well go with it. Same thing why throw away money?
