Hi all. Does anyone know if the G80 gear shifter would fit to the G20 models? I have a 2019 330xi I was doing some retrofits to (interior trims, etc) and just love how the M3 gear shifter looks. Is it plug and play or does it have a special functionality and doesn't fit to our cars? Thanks

I found this under the OEM part list and the part number for the M3 center console is 61319504663. From the looks of things, I cannot find a separate Gear Shifter as you would find that crystal chinese one on AliExpress. I don't know if you can order it separately based on a part number, since it comes with the complete console, and that definitely does not fit to our cars.

I've been told in the past that this will not work.

Figured as much. But why? Isn't it just slip and slide installation onto the metal rod underneath?

That's what I thought. Can't remember the reason given but the person who told me was adamant it was not possible.

In this instance no as I would have done it myself. Worth asking though as the guy I spoke to could be wrong.

I have a console for sale from a crashed X3M. If anyone is interested in the shifter you can send me a PM.

It probably wont work because the M shifter works in a different way compared to the normal shifter.
M going sideways while normal is going back and forth.
This could maybe be solved with correct coding or SWFL/SWFK but this will lead to even more errors.
The cars are way to different.

The only really good solution would be a custom M shifter for normal cars from a chinese manufacturer.
It would be the same shifter as in a normal BMW but in the M design.
I´m still wondering why no one has done this before...
I would imagine the market is even bigger compared to the crystal shifter.

The shifter itself is mounted on a metal stick. So behaviour of this M shifter would be as the normal shifter. Left button would work as the ‘unlock’ button.

The metal stick in a non M Car is too high for the M shifter.
Plus the cable seems to be different.

Have you removed the M shifter from the console?
