I drive a non-P dual motor, which is actually a better match for your M340xi because it has only 360hp.

And since you're paying so much attention to costs, here's the full picture on the Tesla side. My car cost $45K after incentives. A home charging system cost $1200. Instead of $250/mo for gas I now pay an extra $100/mo to the electrical company, so every year of ownership is -$1800. There are some people with very high mileage Model 3s now, and their only expense seems to be new tires, so all the costs of BMW ownership that now start at 3 years will be non-existent. So if I keep my car for 5-7 years like I'm planning to, the TCO will be closer to a dealer lot filler 330i with no options.
I have no doubt that you've owned more bimmers than me, have more posts than me, and have been a generally helpful asset to this site over the years. The impression you've been making recently though is of tesla fandom. That's perfectly fine. I'm glad that you enjoy your tesla(s). It seems ridiculous though to be so defensive of tesla on a forum that's intended for bmw enthusiasts. I can't imagine going to a Tesla forum and bragging about bmw and defending negative comments about the brand, unless I had incentive to do so.

I am happy with my M3P aside from minimalistic interior. Sure G20 is nice but at incentives in DK 330i base model costs more than M3P so was no brainer.

When exactly was I defensive? Was it when I said "Tesla interiors suck" or when I offered a real life TCO breakdown?

The only reason I'm here is because I have actual ownership experience on both sides. And I would be much happier if there was someone who owned a Tesla and then sold it for a BMW - the conversation would've been much more interesting.

I would also appreciate a deep dive comparison with an actual Boston-based M340i owner - swap the cars for a weekend, see how the life on the other side feels today. Will anyone step forward?

Also, your impression of my current presence here is incorrect because it suffers from a typical observation bias. I'm literally everywhere on b-post because I have info about a wide variety of models. But how often do you visit the G07 section? G29?

This would make zero sense because nowhere on Tesla forums you could find a thread specifically dedicated to discussions on how much better a Tesla is compared to a BMW (or an Audi or anything else), where the majority of responders only know BMW cars from seeing them on the street or at best short test drives.

It actually lost credibility when they decided that it was acceptable to test the cars' dynamics with a ZMP and decent tires on the BMW and the crappy Primacy crap on the Tesla. I drove my Tesla on Primacies for less than a month, it was scary af.

Does that also invalidate its conclusion about the 3-series being more engaging to drive?

No it got that part right

All jokes aside, I spent a week with the m3p because it was a serious contender as my next car, and while it was technically very impressive, it just wasn't for me. That's not a reflection on the model 3 or even Tesla for that matter, it just has to do with my feelings towards electric propulsion. I instantly missed the sweet sounds of IC, the rise and drops in revs, the changing of gears etc. In that regards the model 3 just felt sterile and lifeless. It's a great piece of technology, I'm not denying that at all, just didn't invoke the emotions in me that I got when I drove the m340.

Yeah, I saw him on Mass Pike once or twice. That car is not competitive with anything. It looks amazing, and the tech was pretty advanced for its time, but today its only reason for existence is to be driven by celebrities and sheiks. Personally, I was always more appreciative of Seidenberg's choice (he used to be my buddy's neighbor and I parked next to his 6GC a few times).

Yea, it's right up there with the M2 Comps and M3s there. It's one of the only times my wife has gotten an audible reaction from me with her acceleration surprising me (she was laughing hysterically).

Great car for sure, she is a bigger fan of the Model X though.

I'm waiting for the M340 to be classed, betting C or D Street honestly, but it should be competitive there. I really want to see what it does once parts and tunes for it start coming out.

F is more likely actually. It won't look good against the Camaros and the older M3s.

As a general rule, SCCA doesn't class modern BMWs competitively.

But then you're no longer in a street class.

You're defensive of tesla by responding defensively, sometimes in a post by post manner, to posts that contain negative criticism of tesla, particularly the model 3. Please don't make me go and find all of these posts. While relatively easy to accomplish, I simply don't want to spend time doing this.

Of course there's observational bias, since I don't visit each sub forum on the site. In my defense however, I did state that you are an asset to the forum. I wasn't being sarcastic. My post wasn't meant as a character assassination. I only meant to suggest that your commentary on tesla - that I read here in the 3er sub-forum - often gives the impression that you represent the brand in some capacity that goes beyond simple ownership.
