Drive Recorder error
I also have this issue on my G20. Tried resetting idrive which fixes the issue for that day but next day the issue returns. I have not yet activated my subscription to Spotify but I do use the DAB radio.
Will report when I get time and what concerns me is that I am getting a reduction on my insurance premium for having a dash cam system which appears to be faulty. |

Had to reset yesterday but went out this morning and it was still working. That’s a first, up until today I’ve had to reset every day I’ve used the car.
This variability makes no sense!

Hi !
I have the same with my 330e ! (Delivered 1st October 2019). I had the same error message at first (The first 3 weeks). Went to my dealer, no clue, they are checking with BMW group, but it has been a month, and still nothing. One day, I pressed the button. Magically, it worked. Next day, same, it simply worked. Yesterday, tried to launch the recording, the same error message again. This morning, worked like a charm. Seems to be very sporadic behaviour. Never reset iDrive yet.... I’ve been chasing up the ‘genius’ at my dealer and got this response today...
“I've had a response from Brett, who had received a reply from BMW regarding the TSARA case. They have explained that it is a known issue and are currently trying to fix the problem behind closed doors - this typically means a fix should not be far away. I will keep you updated on how this is progressing but unfortunately there is not much else I can do at this point.” I’ll let you know if I receive any further updates...

For the last 4 days my ‘drive recorder’ has worked flawlessly. No updates etc. but it’s working..... beyond me!

BMW UK complaints team are looking it for me.
I don't think there's any point us taking the cars to the dealer each time it occurs as they obviously have no fix yet. |

This is the relevant email content I received:
'I have been informed that BMW UK are due to release an update later this month that should resolve the ongoing issue you are having with the Drive Recorder functionality. This will be a in--car ‘App’ update. As soon as this update is available our Service Dept will be in touch.' |

Great thanks.
Has anyone else who complained to BMW UK heard back from the complaints department? I've only heard that they're looking into it and nothing since. Just confirms my point really that even BMW don't seem to be aware of this issue and how wide spread it is. Quite shocking customer serice I feel from such a 'prestigious' brand. |

That's very interesting. When I receive my car ill see if I can get it added, as it was not an option when the car was ordered.

I have the same problem. I took the car to the dealer and they had to keep my car whole night reprogram it. Next day I was told that the problem is fixed and I can collect the car.
Before collecting the car, I have tested it and it did not work. It gave the same error "Drive recorder not available". The technician who fixed it came to my car and said he tested it last time and it was working. He said these things are so new and he did not have much training on them from BMW. He then reset the IDrive and it worked. He said there are no release notes available for this issue yet. In fact this thing never worked for me since Day1. I am thinking may be I will not change any default setting after system reset and maybe that will keep the Drive recorder working? |
