Yeah so there's definitely a muffler break in period...the snaps and cracks keep getting louder, tonight was the loudest they've ever been. Accidentally scared the crap out of both myself a person walking on the sidewalk when I downshifted and 'gunshots' echoed out of the tunnel I was in.
Ran into a Dodge Viper, very good sounding car. Way louder than the M340i on throttle obviously. I couldn't hear him over the snaps and cracks my car was making letting off at 4k RPM though |

Im at 800km, I can kinda confirm my exhaust got quieter around 400-500km, I always use Shell 91 V-Power, but went out today for a cruise, Sounds like its getting louder again, Loving the loud pops im getting, The exhaust is waking up.

People do not expect it, based on the look of the car!

On my old X3 M40i (which cracked, popped and burbled better than my old M4 ZCP) I noticed the exhaust noises sounded better as the exhaust warmed up. If you drive the car really hard for a few minutes and get the exhaust hot, the exhaust noises are much louder. The exhaust noises are random as well (each time is unique), and it seems the better of the noises only appear when driving the car hard.

Mine actually sounds louder! I have one of the first builds without the new software. I won't do the "emission update" as they like to call it as it de-tunes the car.

Tried the "recommend Shell quality gas" and it seemed to get louder again. Only my first tank from shell so cant really be sure. I've always used chevron on my cars till now. Maybe time to switch to shell for this one. |
