Damn that sucks...have you seen all those videos of Tesla's getting keyed? Many haters still out there...I always park at the far end of the parking lot away from everyone and somehow I come back and there's someone who decided to park 5 inches from me. Don't stress though-should be an easy fix.

Is this a lease? I would just buy some touch up paint for $30 and call it a day. I used to be super anal about this stuff but now i just brush it off and try to let it go. Of course-my cars have always been leased so I dont have that attachment either.

Sorry to see, but they're still despicable jealous degenerates out there that will key your car and it just gets one angry every time you have to look at it. This happened to my spouse as soon as she gets her new car and the SOB that did it, keyed down to the metal. I tried the touch up paint but that didn't do much since it is beyond the clear coat.

That doesn't look intentional; it's probably a shopping cart or someone accidentally grazed up against it.
Think about it, If it was malicious, I'm guessing the person would want to make a statement, hence, it would look a lot worst than what looks to be a two inch scratch.. BTW, you can get that blended and painted for less than $300 at any decent bodyshop. And that's NYC prices. Keep shopping around.. |

Blended for $300 😳 ? Maybe that's what is being proposed in the first estimate I posted above. It's about $500 where's the other 2 quotes seem to be more labor intensive and pricey. |

My dealer's porter scuffed up my bumper and a local shop repainted it for me for $300. No BS. $1,100 is high-class robbery to repaint a panel, which usually happens when they see that BMW emblem. Some shop will claims and charge you to paint the adjacent panels but the truth they're going to spot blend it, wetsand and polish it all together. Good luck. |

Should be about 400-600 bucks for that repair. Pick whichever shop of the cheaper 2 you prefer or has better reviews. I work at a dealership and deal with these issues all day long.

Doesn't look like key, looks more like hit(scratch) and run. Try buffing it out before repainting. I previously got hit and got same scratch like this, got it buffed out 85% for free at a body shop.

Sorry! I fear the same. Back 40 parking for me
I fear this as well. Worked hard for it, want to baby it for as long as humanly possible. I park daily in a parking garage in the city, such that I have to get into work early to ensure I get my perfect spot with the widest parking margins to keep flying doors at-bay. But the risk is always there from angry keys.
I consistently park in the back 40 of ANYWHERE I bring it, and I even avoid bringing the car to places where I assume my wife's SUV can 'take the hit' instead. (E.g. the other night when we took our daughters to a Christmas party at a Convention center). |

Talk to a professional detailer. You have options there that don't involve body ships and further panel refinishing.
